Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Trooper Brian Keith Nichols

We think of you every day...but so much more in the week. The date of your death, your wake, your funeral. It all happened so fast, but yet drug out so. It seems like a lifetime ago and then again...yesterday. I know you are so much better off where you are though. We love and think about you everyday that goes by.......

Love,
Denise

Well, another Christmas and New Year's has come and gone without you. We got a beautiful reindeer and Aaron took the kids to your grave one day while I was working to put it in there. Bro. Russell had left some flowers. So many still miss you. But you are better off where you are, where you lived your life to be. We love you and will forever miss you!

Love,
Denise

To the family and loved ones of Trooper Brian Keith Nichols:

I wanted to honoror and remember Brian today. Although I never had the privilege of meeting Brian, I feel as if I know him through the loving reflections left by friends and family. His valor and service will never be forgotten.

I hope that God is holding him in the sweetest part of his heart and the most gentle part of his soul.

I am so sorry that Brian was robbed of his life so young, but through the profound sense of duty with which he lived his life, he made an immeasurable difference. May his spirit continue to soar and may his memory continue to inspire.

To his wife Denise and his children, I am so sorry for your loss and know that your life was forever changed by the death of your beloved husband and father. I know that he is forever in your hearts. I wish for you that you are able to live the hopes and dreams he has for your life.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Brian gave to his community and the citizens of Alabama, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on February 17, 2002.

DENISE, I KNOW THIS MUST BE A TRYING DAY FOR YOU AND THE KIDS. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE HEARTACHE YA'LL HAVE ENDURED. I HOPE READING ALL THESE KIND REFLECTIONS HELP IN SOME WAY. I CAN TELL BY READING THE THINGS YOU WRITE THAT IT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU THAT WHAT BRIAN DID FOR THE PEOPLE OF THIS STATE ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED. THOUGH IT MAY BE HARD FOR YOU TO BELIEVE, SO MANY OF US SHARE IN YOUR GRIEF BECAUSE IT FEELS LIKE I LOST A BROTHER I NEVER KNEW. THE LAW ENFORCEMENT FAMILY REACHES FAR AND WIDE. WHEN ONE FALLS THE REST OF US STUMBLE. YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT YOU AND THE KIDS ARE A PART OF THAT FAMILY AND ALWAYS WILL BE. I WISH THERE WAS SOMETHING I COULD SAY TO ERASE ALL OF YOUR PAIN. I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT, AS TIME GOES BY, THAT PAIN WILL EASE AND YOU WILL BE LEFT WITH PRECIOUS MEMORIES OF YOUR LIFE WITH BRIAN. AND BRIAN, MAY YOU REST IN PEACE BROTHER WITH THE BLESSED ASSURANCE THAT THE WAY YOU LIVED AND HOW YOU DIED WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

Just wanted to let you know we have not forgotten and will never forget the sacrifice you made this day, or the sacrifice your family makes everyday without you here.
I have blue candles that burn bright 24/7 in memory of all L.E.O.'s. Watch over your family and co-workers let them know you are close.
I know I forgot your birthday, it's the same day as Clint's E.O.W. so I can only imagine how you and him celebrated in Heaven.
Happy 7th Birthday in Heaven Trooper Nichols, you are missed...

Well the holidays have come and gone. The kids hung your ornaments on the tree again. We took a reindeer they picked out to your grave. Keith swept it off and Leanna picked out where to set the reindeer. Your birthday was Wednesday. We thought about you....you would be 42!!! Can't believe it!!! Anyway just thinking about you today and wanted to write my thoughts here!!

Love always,
Denise

Trooper Nichols,
I got some film developed yesterday of photos that I took in 2003 while at a DEA school in DC. The first one was a photograph of you when they added your name to the wall. I was just letting you know that you are not forgotten and never will be.

Trooper Nichols...The Holiday season is fast approaching and it has been a tough year to say the least. Our agency has lost 2 fine troopers. The most recent being a trooper who was in my Patrol School. It is very hard. When it gets hard, I think of all the fine people that have lost their lives in the line of duty and I think of all the families that have lost loved ones. That gives me the strength to go on. I hope your family and friends have a wonderful Holiday. God Bless and keep watching out for all of us.

Trooper Nichols...please welcome one of your fellow troopers into Heaven. We had a young trooper shot and killed on a traffic stop a few days ago. It is so very sad. He was laid to rest yesterday and I hope you two have met by now. Please continue to watch over us. God bless you and your family.

Well, we rode in the Alabama State Trooper Memorial Ride this weekend. There was a great turn out!! So many bikes were there. We had I think 56 ride out just from the Grove Hill post. The memorial service was real nice too. Aaron and I both had shirts with your name on the back. I am so thankful they still do things like that to remember you and all the other trooper's gone before you. We will always remember and love and miss you!!

Love,
Denise

Trp. Nichols: As the months roll by I visit your page and I still see people leaving wonderful reflections about you. I hope your family has all of the love and support they need. It gets crazy out on the road sometimes. But we as Troopers, couldn't imagine leaving it for one second. It's our calling and we love it. Just know that you are not forgotten and you are still very much loved. God Bless.

PS: I have to go to the range today to qualify. For some reason I have a time with this SIG. I don't know if you were a good shooter, but maybe you can help steer some of the bullets in the right direction for me? Thanks!
