Officer Mike deserved to have many more days to walk in freedom, and go to places where he could enjoy life, be productive, and much more...such as enjoying simple comfort. He deserved what he helped fight for in his daily life. R.

A year to the day after you where taken from your family and friends the news still shows the good things you did in the detroit area. Tonight on the news they where showing all the teddy bears people had from what you started before you where taken away from everyone. No one will forget you.

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer. Tonight, February 12, 2003 we dedicated the shift to the memory of P.O. Michael Scanlon, Detroit Police Department, who died in the line of duty on this date last year.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Officer Scanlon's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Rest my friend, you watch is over.

Be brave Leah...I'm praying for you and the kids.

I'm sorry It took me so long to get to you brother. I am almost a police officer though I have only 6 months left until I get my badge. You died a hero and will be in my thoughts. I know it has only been 8 months after your tragic death but I know that your family is still not at peace. May God Comfort your family and hold the hand of your wife and children. This incident has made me realize that the first time I walk my beat might be my last. I know that everyday I work I may not come home. Be with me and watch over my shoulder to make sure I do everything right ok? My prayers with your family. ALS (Monroe, Michigan)

Godspeed, my brother in blue. Rest in Peace.

Mike,

I was thinking of you and wanted you to know that you are in my thoughts and your family is in my prayers...

I would just like to say that, in the near future I plan on becoming a full time officer. I can only hope and pray that I do as good a job as you did! You will be greatly missed! You are a true hero!

Reserve Officer Jeremiah Hoehner
Madison Heights Police Department

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers! As I sat here and read the reflections left by all who cared, I could not stop the tears. They were tears falling just because so many took the moment to express their feelings. Thank you for your love and support!

A special thanks goes out to the officers from Detroit, Redford, Livonia, and Farmington Hills who did all they could to help Mike on that fateful night. Words cannot express my thanks to you, that although I could not be there to hold his hand, you were! Mike did not die alone because of you.

God Bless all of you! You all have a special place in my heart!
