10 years Dennis. Wow, how time passes, I remember it like it was yesterday. Tonight before your memorial service the locker room gym is being dedicated to you. Some fine young officers who never got a chance to know you worked hard on remodeling it and getting all new equipment. It looks great and I know you would be proud. I see Diane from time to time at Wawa and she seems good. I can not believe how grown up your children are. You will never be forgotten.

During the week of October 3, 2011 a mother with a mentallly ill problematic adult son, who is an artist, came in and said that the only UD PD officer who could calm her son through his episodes was UD PD Officer Dennis McNamara. She felt the reason why Officer McNamara was so effective at dealing with people like her son was because Officer McNamara was an artist and an extremely intuitve human being. She missed Officer McNamara's presence, and his gift of relating to people.

Later in the same week, by chance I met Officer McNamara's wife who explained that her husband was also a talented musican. As I am an artist, musican, and Upper Darby Township Police Department Community Worker, I wish I could have met this outstanding Upper Darby Police Officer.

RIP UD Township PD Officer Dennis McNamara,
You are fondly remembered.

I knew Mac for a few years early in my AF career, and ran into him occasionally in the later years. Always with that engaging smile and always your friend no matter how long. I'll remember best our days exploring Monterey CA, and the times on its area beaches.

I'm shocked to see this page, but not surprised that Mac was willing to put his life on the line for his neighbors. I'm saddened to see he was called to make the sacrifice. Rest in Peace, FRIEND. You deserve the rest.

The pain I feel is so unreal
Like knives stabbing me
If thoughts could kill I would be dead
Don't know what to do
The tears won't stop.......

I miss you so much!!!!!

Hard to believe it was 8 years ago Dennis. Diane seems to be doing okay. The kids have grown so much. Many people turned out on a frigid evening at your memorial service. We will never forget you.

Forgive me for missing the anniversary of your E.O.W., but I felt as though I could not continue to read about so many tragedies. I now realize the visit each day to leave a word of encouragement and hope to the loved ones of others, helps me to remember that I am not alone with my pain and heartbreak. So may I say to your friends and loved ones that my thoughts and prayers are with them now and always. Continue to keep watch over them and those still out on patrol and may they know you will never be forgotten.

To the family and friends of Officer Dennis McNamara and his fellow officers in his Department:

On behalf of our entire family, we wish to pay honor to Dennis' memory on the sixth anniversary of the day Dennis so tragically lost his life. His heroism, valor and bravery will be forever remembered.

May you be continue to be comforted by the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. We grieve for you and with you. Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater when he was fatally shot in April of 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, so we know the anquish you are still experiencing.

Please know that the brotherhood and sisterhood of law enforcement and police survivors will always be by your side on each step of the journey.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the years of service Dennis gave to his community and the citizens of Pennsylvania, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 30, 2002.
