I said a little prayer today for Patrolman Burns and his family. He may be gone but never forgotten. He will always be a New York HERO.

I was a Patrolmen/Police Officer in the New York City Police Department. I have walked and observed criminal activity on the same streets in which Patrolmen Burns was assaulted and later died. It is a honor to leave a reflection in your honor on this day. May God continue to watch over you and yours.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 136th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
