My Dad, WD Lawler, always felt guilty for encouraging JD to pursue the game warden position. He was a fine man and my Dad thought his law enforcement abilities were not being fully utilized in his previous position so encouraged him to try for the better position.

MY FRIEND, J. D., AND I WERE CLASSMATES ALL THRU HIGH SCHOOL IN CENTER, TEXAS, IN THE 40s. HE WAS A FINE PERSON, AND MAN. I WAS SHOCKED, BACK THEN, TO LEARN OF HIS DEATH. FROM THE AGE AND PERSPECTIVE OF 82 YEARS, I AM STILL SHOCKED. AND THINK OF HIM OFTEN. MAY HE ALWAYS REST IN PEACE.

Thank you for your service and Heroism Sir. Your job as a Game Warden is by far one of the most dangerist. Everybody you come across has a gun and your alone against all odds on a daily basis. RIP Sir.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 48th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

It is hard to fathom that someone would kill you because they had been duck hunting illegally...so absolutely senseless.
Rest In Peace

JD, you are still remembered and thought of regularly by old game wardens and citizens of Jasper county, Texas. You are not forgotten, my brother.

You gave all to a job that sometimes gives you nothing back. No Game Warden should be without a reflection. Stand easy brother.
