Family and Friends of Officer Russell,

We are with you as you grieve.
Our hearts are heavy too.
We feel the loss and struggle to comprehend it.
We pray for strength and comfort, for understanding and for perfect peace.
We pay our respects and give honor to the one you love and have lost.
We are all around you.
We will stand by you.
We are sincere when we say, “If you need anything, you just have to ask.”
You will know us by our badges.
We will not forget.

Yesterday (01-14-02) we buried two of our officers who were gunned down in the line of duty on 01-08-02. Cpl A.J. Coursen and LCpl Dana Tate. Four officers lost their lives that day and made the ultimate sacrifice. Know that our deepest condolences to you stretch across our great nation.
To your fellow officers, their families, and the families of Officer Jeff Russell...Stand Tall and Stand Proud, you are not alone.

The Badge

It is polished and shiny and looks so fine.
Once you earn it you have to tow the line.
The minute you wear it upon your chest
it becomes a symbol that you are the best.
It means honesty, integrity, and fairness to all.
Your life is never your own, but at the publics call.
Night or day, any hour, it makes you a mark.
It doesn't protect you from a shot in the dark.
Over the years the shine starts to fade,
but brighter still is the man its made.
It is often what seperates you from the crowd.
It is a second family of which you are proud.
So now comes your time, you can't be denied.
When you pin on your badge, wear it with pride
The minute you wear it upon your chest
it becomes a symbol that you are the best.
