Reflections for Corporal Dyke "A. J." Coursen

Dear Dad,

I miss you so much and wish that I could just sit and talk with you. I asked grandma to send me pictures of you when you were my age so that I could see what you looked like. I heard that you were really tall and I hope that I will get that big.
You are my hero and I love you so much.
Love,
Cory

I have to giggle a lil cuz you always wanted to make sure you "looked good". We are all getting older and in your pic you are still so young.
Nine years is not so long ago. Time kinda stands still for memories of you. Though I was so disappointed when you left us in LA, I was very happy that you were going to do what you always wanted to do and be happy. I know you are all around us now......
You taught me so many things that I still use today. So many ideas and "lil sayings" that I find myself using when I am training others at work. The sayings have fallen into so many aspects of my life.
You watched over Derek and Derel as kids for me in LA. Plz continue that as Derek is on another deployment in Afghanistan. Plz be his angel.
Miss you and can't wait to see you again someday.

Sweetheart,
It is so hard to believe you have been gone for nine years. Every minute of that day is still so fresh in my mind, from the time we were on the phone when that call came in and you telling me you were "GOING TO TAKE THIS ONE LAST CALL".
My love for you still grows stronger.

Cory, your father hired me when he was a Captain in Lagrange.A lot of people have told you how great your father was.Believe every word young man because he was one of the greatest people that I have been fortunate to have known. You have every reason to be proud of your dad and allways remember that he is looking out for you.I'm sure he is telling the angels how much he loves his son because he would allways tell me how much he loved you and how important you were to him.If you grow up to be half the man that your father was you will be just fine.Enjoy all that life has to give and keep making your father proud.

Dear Dad,
Today I really missed you and wished that you were still here. I have a picture of you in my bedroom and all your Police Badges. I have a big chest that I keep your Fire Chiefs Coat and Hat in, all the newspaper articles about you and all the letters that you wrote to me. I am 11 years old now and really into sports. I love basketball, baseball, and will be playing football soon. I wish you were here to see my play sports. My mom says I look just like you and I hope I grow big and tall like you were. Dad, I love you and just feel sad that you were taken back to heaven when I was only 2 years old. I know the angels took you back to heaven, but sometimes I wish they could bring you back to me. Love, Cory

Days like today I wish we could still sit around our office and "chat". I was thinkin about the day you left for South Carolina and you were standing in the office and you gave me the penny you found and said, "good luck...keep er' running smooth, Capt." and our TONES went off for a emergency call. You laughed so hard....miss you.
I think it is kinda comforting knowing that you and Jim are in heaven together. Take care of each other and please watch over all the men/woman down here.

Caught myself thinking of you as we had another fallen officer in the area. Wish you were still here so we could joke around like old times. Keep watch over us all. You are still missed
