I got to thinking about you this evening and stumbled across this site. I hope your son and parents realize the positive impact you had and continue to have on many of us. Yours was a life of high standards. Thank you for your friendship and example.

To your Family, thank you for Roy.

They dedicated a park in your honor last week. We couldn't go that day because our little one had the chickenpox. It seems like whatever is going around school we end up getting! I really wish you where here to experience this with us! He is getting so big, and REALLY missing his Daddy. We went to the park this past weekend and Craig had a great time playing. He says he was very proud that this was his Dad's park, and after we brought flowers to you grave. I still don't think it should be this way! You should be here. We miss you Roy.

Roy, It was a great honor and pleasure to have known you my Brother. We shared patrol cars for a while and we never had a problem with taking each other home at the end of our shifts. May God continue to keep your Family strong. I'll See you in the East my Brother.

Roy,

I never met you but as a new member of FPD's ERT I see your badge number and "Superman" logo on all of the veterans entry vests. I see it on all of our vehicles. I have spoken to many who knew you and I am proud to say that I serve on the same SWAT team and same Dept. as you. My daily patrols and ERT operations are always flooded with your memory. Thank you for your sacrifice and for your service. Most of all Thank You for your continued spirit

It's been five yrs and you are definetly not forgotten. They held a beautiful memorial for you yesterday, and I am still so very proud of you. Craig is old enough now to hopefully hold this day as a memory for life. I wish that he could have gotten to meet you, and see how special you were. That when we talk about you, he could see your face like we do. Yesterday they talked about remembering the good times, the special times that we enjoyed with you. I can still see your face and hear your laugh. You are still the most beautiful man I have ever known, and I love you Roy, very much! Every time I look into Craig's face I can see you, Thank you for him. He is so much like you, I know you'd be proud of him. He really misses you, and even though you are not here, I swear he will know you.

Roy, the last time we saw one another we were in high school playing football at 71 high school. You were a kind hearted person, and I for one know how much you tried to look out for Randle. I just want you to know that you will always be the person I remember from school and on the field. REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND Rodney K. Wiggins

Thinking of Officer Turner's family

Artist: Diamond Rio
Song: One more day
Album: One More Day
[" One More Day " CD]

Last night I had a crazy dream
A wish was granted just for me,
It could be for anything
I didn't ask for money
Or a mansion in Malibu
I simply wished, for one more day with you.

Chorus:
One more day
One more time
One more sunset, maybe I'd be satisfied
But then again
I know what it would do
Leave me wishing still, for one more day with you.

--- Instrumental ---
One more day.

First thing I'd do, is pray for time to crawl
I'd unplug the telephone
And keep the tv off
I'd hold you every second
Say a million I love you's
That's what I'd do, with one more day with you.

Chorus:
One more day
One more time
One more sunset, maybe I'd be satisfied
But then again
I know what it would do
Leave me wishing still, for one more day with you.

Chorus:
One more day
One more time
One more sunset, maybe I'd be satisfied
But then again
I know what it would do
Leave me wishing still, for one more day with you.

Leave me wishing still for one more day
Leave me wishing still for one more day
With you.

One more day...

I am a little early for this 4th yr but we just had 2 officers killed here in the last month and this last one really got to me. As the news was breaking...it sounded so much like it did when you left. Roy, I really miss you. I hate that anyone has to go through this, or feel this way. It is a saddness, that no matter what I do or how far I move away from it, never really goes away. Craig just turned 4, and 2 days later we sang again for you. He always talks about you and now every time he sees an American flag he says, "There's my Daddy's Flag." Still every morning and every night in our prayers - we yell out, that we love you and miss you... and we still really, really do.I hear them saying to me that God only chooses those who can take it, but I am still trying to figure out how he thought I could. You are always in my thoughts and forever on my mind. We love you Roy.

Roy,
It was an honor working with you. I thank you for everything that you have ever done for me. You are truly an inspiration of how EVERY officer needs to conduct theirselves. You are still very much our thoughts. You are safe now.
I know that you are still watching over us as you always did when you were with us.

My love and prayers will always be with the Tuner's and Roy's son and fiancee. He wasn't just a honorable soldier and dedicated policeman, he was most of all a good friend and role model. I grew up across the street from him as a kid for 15 years and he was always encouraging and motivational. I did an internship with the Fayetteville City Police Dept. while going to school at FSU, and he volunteered to let me ride along with him. I know his family, friends, and co-workers are very proud of him, and they should be. He was a hero, a mentor, and a good friend that I'll always love, respect, and remember for the rest of my life.

Carol -
We miss you on the web board. You came across my mind several times during the last Police Week and in the weeks passing by. I pray daily that you and Craig are doing as well as you can be, and that if you need anything you will let me know.

Thank you Roy for your sacrifice. I will always remember it.

I was flipping through some old Army pics the other day, and saw Roy and I in Germany. He was a great MP, friend, and I am sure that he would have been a great Dad. All of us old 284th MP Co'ers are saddened, and while slow to write, know tht he is missed. I would love to send a photo I have of Roy to the family. How?

My fiancé, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Dennis was a Deputy Sheriff with the Davis County Sheriff's Office in southeast Iowa. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure Roy did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Roy be the last to die this way.

Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Officer Turner's family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. As a "survivor" my heart goes out to you all, especially to his fiancée. No one can truly understand the pain of our loss until they've walked in our shoes. Please know that my thoughts are with you today and everyday.

Please accept my condolences on behalf of the McElderry family and myself. From reading the many reflections posted here, it is apparent Roy's spirit touched a number of lives. We should all be loved as much. You were blessed to have had him in your life, even for a short time.

Thank you Officer Turner for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiancé Dennis for me.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

4 Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; 5 it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends

Officer Turner, thank you for your service and dedication. You will be missed and never forgotten. May your family, fiancée, and everyone who loves you stay strong in the memories and love you shared with them.

I lost my fiancée, Scott Stewart, in August of 2002. There not a day that goes by without him in my heart and mind. I understand the pain your fiancee must feel from being ripped from you to soon. The support and love from others who know my pain have helped tremendously.

To your fiancee, if you ever feel the need to reach out to others who know your pain, please contact me and other s/o’s. A search on yah groups will bring you to us. Just enter the below as it is.

Always remember as long as your heart beats Roy will be with you. He’s there everyday in your heart.

Hugs,
Monica

~~~~~The Broken Chain~~~~~
We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name.~~In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.~~It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.~~You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.~~Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the Chain will link again.
