Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Billy Ray Walls, III

Hello, Billy ~

Have you on my mind today; for some reason went back to that dreadful November day in 2001 --- it's bright and sunny today, just like then. The shock and pain remain; sure do miss you.

I sat on your first interview board for Wilmore. We didn't hire you then, but did later. I never encountered a more enthusiastic applicant. Then you moved on To JCSO. You were always into, and on top of everything. When that final radio call came in... though you were no longer working for Wilmore... Chief Boven's first thought was, "Where's Billy?" ( he told me this later)
Good memories. Lots of funny cop stories. But first and foremost Billy, YOU DID YOUR DUTY.

Billy ; You chose the profession you loved. Your desire to serve and protect was and is admirable and honorable. You are now reaping the rewards you so richly deserve. I have many times asked myself why you .......... and not me !! It has been said that only the GOOD die young . How prophetic that has turned out to be. Heaven and our lord must certainly be greatly appreciative of the angel that has been in their midst for the past 11 years. You lived your life with dignity and love and it was such an honor to have had the privilege to have helped to conceive and bring you into this world, and an even greater honor to have had you call me DAD . With all my lover, respect and honor : Your Real DAD

775 to 762,
You were on my mind as usual. I just came back from our FOP meeting and thought I would drop you a note. Wonder how many lives you have saved up there? Do those crown vics ride any smoother on streets of gold? Now tell me something..... Do you all get all those new-to-the-market gadgets like led lightbars before they get them down here?? I think I'll call Prissy this week. I know you are doing well. Keep an eye on the rest of us brother.

Godspeed 762!

775 is 10-10

Thinking of you and how its been 10 years now. 'Thank You' for looking down on me and protecting me while I was in Afghanistan! When things got crazy I told my wife I prayed to two people while I was there, God and Billy Walls. We had a lot of fun together, some of the best times of my life. Thanks for the great memories!

775 to 762,

Today marks ten years since you gave your all. As you know Prissy held a beautiful memorial service at your grave site. Friends and colleagues in attendance numbered well over one hundred. Prissy is still as beautiful as ever and looking at Kaley is like looking at you.... what a young lady she has turned into.

There isn't a week that goes by that you don't cross my mind and you are embedded so deep in my heart. It was a true honor to work with you and I will always remember you with respect and admiration.

Godspeed 762!

Dear Billy,

How in the world could TEN YEARS have passed since you left us?!? We're all ten years older, ten years sadder, and we still miss you every single day. We look at your 28-year-old face and think of all that was, all that could have been, and all that never will be. We're grateful for the years you were here and for all the wonderful memories you provided for so many of us. Rest peacefully, Friend; we'll never forget.

Our love,

Hi, Billy ~

Two years today since Daddy joined you; I know you became fast friends. Earth is an excruciatingly sad place, so it's comforting to know that you and Daddy and so many others we love are never sad anymore. We miss you more than you could know.

Today is the day...I tell your story so many times throughout the year...when I meet someone & I tell them I used to be a dispatcher. They always ask about bad calls & I have to tell them that I have never taken the worst call, however, one of the worst calls shaped who I was as a dispatcher. You are truly a man of honor and after 9 years still hold the utmost respect of those who speak of you. I will pause today and say a prayer for Prissy & Kaley...know that you are not forgotten.

Can't believe that it has been 9 years. I'm always amazed at how this day hits me. I miss so much about you and our life. But what hurts the most is Kaley. She never got to know you. The stories help but she doesn't know the feeling of your love and how strong it could make a person. There is so many things that I will never be able to explain to her about you to make her truely understand. That is what hurts so deep in my soul. I love and miss you more everyday.
