My name is Sabrinea Neri and I am a student at Heald College in Modesto, Ca. my major is Criminal Justice. My CJ teacher has asked me to find a fallen hero and dedicate my last quarter to that hero before I graduate. As I scrolled through this website I found Jeffery Fontana and knew right away this was my hero. The reason I choose him is because for one even though I didn't have the opportunity to meet my fallen hero, I know his gave his life to protect the people. His dedication will never be forgotten, His memory will keep me strong during this chapter of my education even as life tries to knock me down I will keep my promise to his memory. I am truly sorry for your loss Mr. and Mrs. Fontana but as you can see your son still has an important impact on someone's life. Thank You and GOD BLESS......Sincerely Sabrinea Neri

I was a police cadet when Jeffrey was killed. I was riding along with a friend that morning but left early, only a few hours before Jeff was killed. I remember hearing the news and how it felt hearing that a role model had been killed serving the very community I lived in and wanted to one day serve myself. Jeff's death struck me especially because he was young, relatively fresh from the academy and by all accounts becoming the type of officer SJPD was so well respected for breeding.

I spent many of my days during Jeffrey's trial sitting in the courtroom listening to testimony and trying to piece together for myself how this tragedy transpired.

Tomorrow, on the anniversary of Jeff's LODD I officially join the ranks of role models like him and get sworn in as a peace officer. I will continue to remember Jeff's sacrifice and strive to be the type of person and officer he was.

With the death of two more local officers, I can't help but think back and remember the day you were killed. I will never forgot walking into our hallways and seeing the expressions of the faces of your academy mates. I think of you often.... and your family.

Remembering Jeffery Fontana on his ninth Memorial Day

Your family is in my thoughts and prayers! I was horrified when I heard of Jeffery’s murder! Kate, Chris and I all mourned for your loss. We all lost a wonderful person that day. Both Kate and Chris always remember Jeffery with fond memories and you always ask yourself, why Jeffery of all people?
I want you to know, Jeffery will not be forgotten in our family, and we will still lift all of you up in prayer. I know other people like Jane S. who always laments about Jeffery’s murder as well. Jane was on the bridge when she heard it on the radio and has followed the case for years. Jane has always mentioned having your family in her thoughts.
I got lost one day in San Jose and drove by the memorial park in honor of Jeffery. I had to pull over I felt so touched! I know it seems like yesterday but when it comes to the loss of your loved one by murder that grief never leaves. The murder trial seems like an eternity too! What a trauma! I am so sorry for what you have been through. Our family remembers Jeffery, we wish you well, and we salute Jeffery and all other police who put their life on the line everyday they report for duty!
Kate’s husband is also a police officer; every time I hear a siren, I say a prayer for the responder’s and the people they are racing to help!
God Bless all of you and I pray for comfort to your hearts!
Sincerely,
Patricia Calvache

Remembering you and all those that you loved today. It is so hard to believe that it has been 9 years since you left us to be with the Lord. Rest in peace Jeff and not a day goes by that we don't think about you. Please continue to watch over and protect the ones we love that walk the same beat.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 8th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service.

Rest In Peace.

I have gotten to know your wonderful family through the NORCAL COPS chapter. This year they were finally afforded some relief with some measure of justice being rendered. You and your family deserved more but were denied the full measure deserved. You are loved and missed by so many. The
pain of your loss and the pride in who you were are both forever.

Officer Fontana,
I don't know you and have never met you, but I have made a promise to carry on and never let anyone who has made the ultimate sacrifice be forgotten.

It is clear by those that have left reflections for you, that you were an awesome man and will be a mighty warrior as you walk the golden streets of heaven.

Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

It seems that justice has been won - although it's not really justice for no amount of justice will ever come close to what you and your family have been through.

May those that love you rest their heavy heads and hearts in the hands of Jesus, whom has paid the ultimate sacrifice for us and opened the doors of heaven. May he comfort them and provide them a peace beyond all understanding.

Rest in Peace Officer Fontana - you will never, ever be forgotten.
