I was shocked to find out of this loss last year. Bruce and I were classmates at Alexander Robertson School. At that time we were the only two blacks. My hearts still heavy.

I cannot say enough or offer enough tears or emotions for the numerous, numerous amazing men and women who gave so selflessly and heroically that day and for still many, the numerous days that followed over the numerous years to come. You changed my outlook on life and gave me a second chance....On August 24, 2001, you arrested me. I was at my lowest of lows and the charges against me were serious. Out of all the officers involved in my arrest, you were the only one who talked to me like a human, like you could see value in me. My court date was scheduled for September 25, 2001; I was prepared to go away for a very long time. However, the Judge informed me of what happened to you and you brothers and sisters on September 11, 2001.... Selfishly I was filled with excitement as the judge dismissed my case and allowed me to walk free. It was not until later that afternoon that I realized the sacrifice you had made for everyone, including me. And I want you to know that I changed my life around and have become a much better person and contributor to society. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of you and your family. I will always be forever grateful and will continue to make worth of your sacrifice. Thank you. Always remembered and never forgotten.

Bruce Reynolds was already on the job as an Urban Park Ranger when I came aboard. We were partners on foot patrol in Central Park:a cool city kid (Bruce) with a goofy girl from out west. I'll never forget what he taught me, and I can see that smile still. RIP Bruce......

Bruce saved me 17 years ago at Port Authority. He is someone I will never forget helping me. He was so proud of his wife and talked of her with nothing but love. I may have known him a short while, but he will be remembered always!

Today, the 10th anniversary of September 11, 2001, DG opened it's stairwells and local firemen and women came to climb 110 flights of stairs in honor of America's heros. Everyone carried 1 of 343 firefighters, and you sir, were my guy!

Thank you for your service, and thank you for your 15 years of service before that fateful day. God calls his angels home early, and that is why he called you home on 9-11-01. So young, but so strong.

Bruce and I attended elementary school together. I was saddened to hear of his passing. He was certainly a hero. I will always remember him as a child with a bright future a head of him. My prayers go out to his family.

Hey Bruce,
I'm new on the job and I work at the Bridge. The A building is now on Bruce Reynolds Blvd. I stand next to your picture at roll call every day, and I hear the old-n-crusties talk about what a great guy you were. One thing is obvious: it's none of that "he's gone so let's make a hero out of him" that you sometimes hear. Each and every one of them means it from their hearts when they talk about what a great guy you were. That's a heck of a tribute to you, sir. you gave us a lot to live up to, but we're trying man, we're trying. Rest easy Big Brother.

Hey cousin Brucie, I came across this site by chance. It is very sobering. I can't say that I have a dry eye while going through the names and faces and memories.
To all who read this, know Bruce was a real person, a wonderful old soul, a great person to be around, a great conversationalist. He never, I mean, never ever had a negative word. The world was better off with Bruce. I am so very sorry.

Dear Bruce:
For some time now, I have been keeping my promise to all of you who gave all, writing a reflection to each of you. It has become, what I like to refer to as, "A labor of love". And it has been my honor and priviledge to do so.
For the last 27 years, I have been a lawman. Although always proud of our profession and the job we do, NEVER have I been as proud as I am now because of your sacrifice and that of all our brothers and sisters. I have heard so many people use so many terms to describe what you did. "Hero", "Angel of Mercy", etc. I have my own term: "Soldier of God".
I truly believe that God has us embark on this mission of protecting those who cannot protect themselves, in His stead. Ours is a calling, and you demonstrated so perfectly what that calling is all about. It's about putting our own safety aside, and protect and defend those who, without us, would surely perish. Just like a soldier.
No words of mine, or for that matter, anyone else, can ever give you enough gratitude and thanks for a job well done, save this:
That because of your being a "Soldier of God", 25,000 innocent lives were spared. And like a good soldier, after you completed your mission, you went home. For all of us still here, on behalf of every one of us who wears a badge and carries a gun, thank you for your sacrifice, tenacity, dedication, bravery, and professionalism. May Almighty God bless you, your family, and God Bless America. Amen
