Reflections for Police Officer James A. Nelson

On the anniversary of 9/11, I thank you and your comrades for your selfless duty and courage that momentous day. Your sacrifice and those of the victims and other first responders will forever be honored in the annals of brave men and women who gave their all for their city, state and for the United States of America. A hero in every sense of the word. Your assignment at the police academy further reflects your character and willingness to teach others.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the seventeenth anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I pray for solace and strength for everyone who misses and loves James . We will never forget the sacrifice made by each of the 9/11 heroes and their families.

I received a card today and someone asked me to pray for you. instead I prayed for your loved ones who miss you. I did ask GOD to keep you close to him, but I know you are doing well where you are and that you are guiding your family from GOD's side.

It was interesting that I received your card. For my Fiance has the name James and he works for the port authoirity of Pittsburgh. He was 40 on that day, and it could have easily been him in your in your place.

I will continue to pray for you and your family and think about your sacrifice and what they have lost.

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.

You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because God honors it.

You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for your fellow man, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.

Thank you for your service to America. Your efforts saved thousand that horrible day.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends. You will be in our hearts forever.

I tried to attend as many funerals as I could during these darkest of days as my way of showing respect to families and coworkers of all of my brother and sister Officers and Firefighters. I cannot find the words to say how sorry I am that we have lost these great heroes. I cannot express my thanks enough for your bravery and sacrifice. My prayers are with you and all of your families......................AC

Jimmy,

I never got the chance to meet you. I know you only through the stories I have heard from your brother. From those stories I know what a great man you were. What a loving husband, father and brother you were. Rest in peace my friend.

Shortly after 9-11-01 I purchased a Fallen in the line of duty bracelet with the name James Nelson. Every day I look at that bracelet and think of my brothers and sisters who are no longer with us. We will NEVER forget.
