Donald and I worked together in the Bowery Savings bank in NYC around 1983?, long before he was a police officer. We became good friends at work. I always remember him saying that he wanted to become a police officer.
We lost contact after we went our separate ways many years ago.
I was saddened to see he was a victim of 911 at the memorial ceremonies. May you rest In Heavenly Peace.

I was in New York marching in the 2022 St Patricks Day parade with An Garda Siochana the Irish Police. As the marching slowed down on an approach to a viewing stand I noticed a woman and young girl holding a banner which read in memory of Donald McIntyre. I handed the young girl a souvenir pen from An Garda Siochana.
I later asked a friend in the NYPD who was Donald McIntyre. I learned he was an officer killed in the attack on the twin towers.
The following day I visited the memorial at the twin towers. I asked a security guard where the inscription of the name Donald McIntyre could be found. After a quick scan of his phone it transpired I was standing two yards from where his name is inscribed. I said a prayer for him and all those killed. I retired that day after 42 years service.

I met a PAPD officer who was great friends w/ Donald. I had went to a NY Yankees fantasy camp in 2000. I wanted to try to do something for the officers that were victims on 9/11. I gave my autographed NY Yankees hat....autographs from Yogi Berra,Don Larsen,Bobby Richardson,Nettles,Dent,Kubek, Goose,ect...to Don's wife....through my new friend. I was invited to the picnic honoring Don & Mike W. It was such an honor and a privilege, I hope to meet Don's son , one day, who got the hat. God bless all of the PAPD officers, who sacrificed their lives...for others !!!

Bless all those whose sacrifice, love and courage have given so much to this world. Protect those Heroes in harm’s way, strengthen those whose heroic contribution perseveres day in and day out, and heal those whose heroism has cost them in mind and body. Grant by your grace, that we may each find ever deeper heroic virtues in ourselves so that we may serve others every day, in every way.
Amen

Don,
you will always be remembered! Your killer has been brought to justice..

Lord, he was yours to give,
and yours to call home.
Please stand by his brothers,
so they're not all alone.
Dry the tears of his family,
so they clearly can see,
that he gave us his all,
so all could have peace.

Blessed are they,
the children of God,
with heavy hearts,
and honor they trod,
to pay their respects,
to give their salute,
and to ask for your mercy
on HEROES IN BLUE.
Amen.

Rest easy officer; your work here is done.

Dear Don:
Though we have never met, I believe that we share a common bond...to protect and serve our countrymen, from all enemies, foreign and domestic. And defend them you did, in the most noble and commendable way possible. To save even one life, (I know, I have), is a feeling that can't be put into words. But, to save 25,000, well, there wll never be a satisfactory desription of the emotions felt.
Thank God you and all the rest were there that horrible day. As police officers, we are all familiar with sacrifice at one point or another. But hopefully never again, will we have to endure sacrifice of the magnitude that you so willingly made.
To honor you and all who made the supreme sacrifice, is not only fitting and proper, but your sacrifice demands it. And justly so. I am certain that somewhere, there is a family that is still hurting from losing you, and a family that still knows the loneliness of not having you there for them. So, this reflection is not only to honor you, for which you deserve, but also to your family, who deserve it as well.
The attack was horrific, and cowardly, and a disgrace. But to forget what you did that day, along with all our other fallen brothers, would be even more dispicable. I will not allow it, not for a moment. Every chance I get, in any way that I can, I make mention of the sacrifice you gave, to anyone I can. We, as Americans, can never give back enough, to you, or, to your family.
America was built on sacrifice, and yours was no different. Obtaining freedom took sacrifice, lots of it. But maintaining it, takes even more. Much more, and from many more people.
As you rest in Heaven, know that you are are now a legend, and legends don't die...they grow bigger and are appreciated more with each passing day. Godspeed, and until we meet each other in a place our Father has set aside for all of you who wear a badge, thank you, God Bless your family, and God Bless America. Amen

To the family and loved ones of Officer Donald McIntyre and his fellow officers with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department and most especially to Donald:

Mere words seem insignificant to honor your heroism and courage which will never be forgotten. On this the fifth anniversary week of the tragic devastation wreaked upon our nation, those brave men and women who lost their lives safeguarding others are remembered and revered.

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.

You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because God honors it.

You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for your fellow man, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.

Thank you for your service to America. Your efforts saved thousand that horrible day.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends. You will be in our hearts forever.

I tried to attend as many funerals as I could during these darkest of days as my way of showing respect to families and coworkers of all of my brother and sister Officers and Firefighters. I cannot find the words to say how sorry I am that we have lost these great heroes. I cannot express my thanks enough for your bravery and sacrifice. My prayers are with you and all of your families......................AC
