On Saturday, September 11, 2021, I participated in the 7th annual Tri-Cities 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb hosted at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, TN. It was my honor to carry the picture of Sergeant Robert M. Kaulfers during the climbing of 110 floors, an event to honor the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice on that day 20 years ago. At the finish of the climb, a bell was rung and his name was announced to more than 500 people in attendance.
The picture now holds a special place in my home where it will be a constant reminder of the bravery and courage displayed that day by true heroes.
My promise to you.....we will never forget.

My condolences to bobby's family. I know it s been a while but I came across his name while scanning the net. We worked together at the Bergen County Narcotic Task Force when we were young and times were different. We were all looking to stay in law enforcement and serve. We all left and most of us continued in different agencies. My path led to Florida where it's been over 25 yrs. and I continue to serve as a Deputy. You served and gave the ultimate sacrafice as any of us would have. I miss the old days at the task force but your not forgotten. Best to your family you were one of the best.

Dear Bob:
What can be said, that has not already been said, about you and your heroic acts? That you were loyal and dedicated? That you thought of the creed we police live by, "to serve and protect"? Perhaps the only befitting thing I can think of, is the fact that you gave up a life, a life that would have seen you grow old, watch as family members grow into adults, fish on a quiet lake, see the sun rise on a new day, or hear the cry of a new born baby.
But in giving up all that, Bob, so many other Americans WILL experience those wonderful things, and for that, I, we, America, owes you a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid.
There is a saying that in a conflict, a person will either "fight or flight". Our profession does not give us the choice, nor would any of us take that choice. You fought, and you fought well. As a result, you, along with so many others who gave their all, helped to save some 25,000 of our fellow countrymen from certain death. Let our enemies, wherever they be, whoever they are, be on notice...if you think that your acts of cowardice and murder were intimidating, you are mistaken. You murdering cowards don't have the resolve or the character that police officers such as Sgt. Kaulfers possess. That is why we shall NEVER be defeated.
Bob, I hope that you can rest easy knowing that your legacy shall live on, and your sacrifice never forgotten. From one brother to another, our thin blue line is not quite as full as it was, but the line, in your honor, has held. God bless you, your family, and God Bless America. Amen

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.

You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because God honors it.

You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for your fellow man, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.

Thank you for your service to America. Your efforts saved thousand that horrible day.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends. You will be in our hearts forever.

I tried to attend as many funerals as I could during these darkest of days as my way of showing respect to families and coworkers of all of my brother and sister Officers and Firefighters. I cannot find the words to say how sorry I am that we have lost these great heroes. I cannot express my thanks enough for your bravery and sacrifice. My prayers are with you and all of your families......................AC

To the family of Sergeant Robert Kaulfers,
I have no words to ease your pain. I can't say I know how you feel. If will help your pain at all, I read Roberts name at a ceremony in Jacksonville Florida honoring all police officers and firemen that lost their lives one year ago. You will always be in my prayers, and I will never forget.

My Heartfelt sorrow goes out to the Kaulfers family. I had the honor to work for Robert just after he made rank. You were a good boss and friend thanks for the memories. You'll not be forgotten.

Bobby lived in Kenilworth, NJ with his lovely wife Cookie, daughter Meredith and son Timmy. Bobby was a true hero both on and off the job. He is sorely missed by his family, friends and fellow townspeople. I know he is looking down on us all, smiling.

Chief William Dowd
Kenilworth NJPD

Well, we've never met but I will always carry your memory with me now. Many of us here in Virginia are now wearing hats with "FDNY", NYPD", or "PAPD" on the front and the name of a fallen officer or firefighter on the back. By luck of the draw, I have your name. I wear it a lot, and I think of the sacrifices you and your brothers and sisters made. You will not be forgotten...even by those of us that never knew you personally. Peace.

My Prayers are with all the friends and family of all the officers who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
I lost my brother tragically, Det. David Taylor, Greensboro PD, On August 7, 2001. I was in NY for my fiancee's Mother's funeral the first of Sept. I was stranded there for 3 weeks due to this atrocity. As I watched the events on TV, I cried for all those who lost their lives. But was especially emotional about the Police Officers and the Firefighters and their families, as I had just recently suffered a tragic loss myself. As I walked through the streets in the days following the attack, I cried with pride as I saw the officers on duty on all the corners in the city. I knew how hard it was for them, knowing they had lost their friends. On the Sat. following the attack I was at St. Patrick's for mass. The last 2 people to go up and take communion were 2 NYPD officers, again I cried. I hope all of you are getting the support that my family and I got when we needed it, from the Deparment. I know the comforting words and even the funny stories the officers tell us about my brother helps. I know that our loved ones who are gone from here, had a higher calling and are happy and at peace in Heaven. Hopefully we can all feel that same peace one day! God bless All of you! And God bless America!
