Family, Friends & Fellow Officers Remember...

He was a great officer. He always had a smiling face and would help anyone with anything. Calvin will be missed for a long time. He made me realize the type of officer I wanted to be and have the same values and morals and integrtiy as him.

I didnt know Trooper Taylor personal, but I have several good friends employed by his agency. And when they lose one of there own, you feel like you've lost someone to.My best friend told me alot about Trooper Taylor, so much that I felt that I knew him. It doesn't matter who you know or who you don't know, but my heart goes to his family and friends because, Trooper Taylor stood for the good in each and everyone of us. One day we will see Trooper Taylor again, just as everyone remmembered him. My prayers go out to his family and friends. We are all brothers out there standing for the same things Trooper Taylor did.

In August if this year I lost a very special friend who was a police officer. With the help of family and friends and the love of God, we can make it.

It takes a special person to serve and protect people they don't even know. People in law enforcement are very special God made them that way.

Calvin Taylor was one of the finest troopers in the State of North Carolina, probably in the United States as well. Calvin was great with people, he was a Christian man, and had a wonderful family who loved and supported law enforcement. He could pull along side you in that unmarked Crown Vic, and no matter how bad your night was going, you'd be laughing after he left. Calvin knew how to be a COP...in all aspects. I cannot recall one time where he mistreated a single person, as I had the opportunity to back him up several times while working for another agency. Calvin trained alot of young troopers coming out of Basic School, and those troopers were trained by the best. Rest well Calvin, you will not be forgotten.

I knew Calvin from the time he started on the Highway Patrol until his "home going". He is not dead. Only his body is. He is in Heaven with his Lord.
Calvin worked under my father from 1981 until 1993. He then transferred to Haywood county where he worked with my uncle. You never saw Calvin without a smile on his face and a kind word for you. You could not help but like him. He was one of the kindest people anyone could ever know. He did his job and did it well. He is a roll model for new officers, no matter which agency they work for.
Calvin will be truely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Yesterday, we laid to rest a true American hero who wore the badge for 20 years without prejudice or bias. I had the honor of patrolling Haywood County with him for 8 1/2 of those years. We will close up the hole in our ranks, but not in our hearts and never our memory. Trooper Taylor left a strong message of integrity, loyalty and hope for officers young and old. I, personally will miss him greatly and the citizens of this county have lost a true diamond in the rough. God bless Trp. Taylor's family and anyone else who may mourn and miss his smile and laughter.

My deepest sympathies to all those directly affected by the early passing of Trooper Taylor. I look at the memorial page regulary, with every time hoping not to see another name added to the growing list of fallen brothers and sisters. To Trooper Taylor's family and friends remain strong and keep your heads up. Rely on all the good times with Trooper Taylor to keep you motivated. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
