Don, I just want you to know we still think of you all the time and miss you. Sometimes you just come to mind, or its everytime I pass "the spot", or pull into the squad room and pass your memorial, or see your plaque on the wall, or see your mailbox at the office, or hear of another brother giving his life, or just a random memory of you. Time has passed but we always remember.

It is Christmas Eve and I am thinking of you every minute remembering past Christmas's. I remember one Christmas where you had worked the night before and the kids could not wait to open their presents and when you got up you were disappointed they hadn't waited and I felt so bad. You always loved Christmas. You even bought a minature train, you wanted to make a Christmas garden. It is still here at the house. Maybe one day I will do it for you. We all miss you so much.
I love and miss you so much.
Love, Mom

It has been seven long years and the pain is the same. You are thought of daily and greatly missed by all your family, friends, and your co-workers. Rest easy my friend. You are not forgotten!

It's almost Thanksgiving. Oh, how I miss you. It is not the same. It is so hard to see the place where you sat, your chair is empty. But I must count my blessing and be thankful that I had you for 35 years.
I love you so much.

My thoughts are with all of your loved ones and those who care about you for I know they think of you every day and miss your sweet smile and laugh. Although we have never met, I would have been honored to have served with you in law enforcement. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones and protect them from harm. Wrap your wings around your Mom and help her with her grief. Appear to her in her dreams to let her know you are near and watching over her. You have not been forgotten.

It is 5:15AM and a knock comes to my door. The Sheriff and three deputies are there to tell me that you were ambushed and murdered.
Several Hamilton County Deputies, Collegedale Officers, Dispatchers and your best friend and I went to the place where you gave your life and lit seven candles and left seven roses to remember you.
It has been seven years and the hurt is still there.
Edward, Khristy and family and I miss you so much. We think of you constantly.
Your best friend and I were talking last night about Samantha and how she has your likes and dislikes more than her parents. She remembers going to your house and you would only let her have just "two" pieces of chocolate and you always had her favorite soda, "Grape".
We also talked about when we will see you again and we believe that is very soon.

This song comes to my mind so often:
Does Jesus care when I've said Good-bye to the dearest on earth to me.
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks
O yes I know He cares,
O Yes He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief,
When the days are weary and the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

Until we see again, we love and miss your terribly.
