Corporal,
I have never known you. the fates of geography all but forbid our meeting. But as I write this I am preparing myself to Leave for the military in only a couple of months. On my return I hope to take up the duties of service and protection that I am sure you lived for... and unfortunately died for. God willing, I still have most of my life ahead of me to Serve my country both on a federal and a local level as you have done. You and the other men and women, be they police officers, deputy sheriffs, correction officers, agents, army, navy, air force, marines, or coast guard, who have given the last full measure of devotion forever stand as motivation for the millions of us to come and take up where you were cut short.
You protecting days are over, but so long as we are inspired by your life, you service last in those you have inspired. Rest now my brother.

Officer Donald, I salute you. I lost my buddy and co-worker, Officer Sean Laura, four years ago in a car chase that turned into a foot pursuit. My friend got run over by another patrol car coming to his aid. This job puts us men and women who wear the blue in bad positions but we cannot turn back out of fear and self-preservation. We have to push it to maintain law and order. The person my friend chased was charged, convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to 40 years. I pray the court of your jurisdiction grants you, your family, friends and the men and women who were honored to call you their colleague the same justice. It will never fill the void you left but they won't be free to put another officer in that position.

Rest in peace and God bless.

I am so sorry to have to welcome another family to our growing family here in Indiana. I know your family will be prayed and watched over by angels sent from above. Mine was. It has been almost 11 months since my husband was killed on duty. Please trust that you will make it and always keep your officer in your heart, he will be there with you.

God Bless

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and colleagues of Detective Donald. This is truly a tragic event for all concerned. If not for the heroes of law enforcement, there would be chaos in the streets. Know that this officer is now a part of the thin blue line on heaven's streets and take comfort from it. Godspeed, Louis.
