Reflections for Police Officer Eric D. Lee
Hi Mr. Eric,
I don't remeber you (since I was only 1 when you died), but my dad, your former parner Raul Rodriguez, has told me many great things about you. I pray that God will be with your family until they see you again. I one day hope to meet you in heaven. My dad misses you soo much that my brother's middle name is Eric. You will never be forgotten...ever.
With love,
Sara Rodriguez

I was so sad to see this link of Eric's passing, but when I reflected on him all I could do was smile. He was an amazing person, kind, generous and wise beyond his years. I had not spoken to him in over 20 years, but what I would say is "well done!' I salute my old and dear friend!! I know you are in a special amazing place and you deserve to be there. Although I do not know the family, I know that he picked a beautiful bride and he left an amazing legacy, his daughter.
May God Bless your family!!

Like a comet
Blazing 'cross the evening sky
Gone too soon
Like a rainbow
Fading in the twinkling of an eye
Gone too soon
Shiny and sparkly
And splendidly bright
Here one day
Gone one night
Like the loss of sunlight
On a cloudy afternoon
Gone too soon

Ten years have gone by and many people are still saddened. In some way, many of us are still waiting in the hospital ramp/parking lot for good news on that steamy Sunday night.
Though you have left us, we all carry your memory and take comfort that you are watching over us.
I hope that you have found that eternal peace that we all hope for. One day we will see eachother again, but until then...

Dear Shawn and Erica,
I just finished reading Defending the Damned and my heart goes out to you both. Eric Lee was a hero, role model and a wonderful man. I am impressed that you were brave enough to open up your life to an author writing about Public Defenders. It was fascinating and heartbreaking to read about the process through your eyes. Eric will continue to touch peoples lives in a positive way through the book. Happy New Year!

Dear Shawn & Erica,
Eric D. Lee was one of the most amazing young men that I knew. Not only was he a "gentle giant", he was also a champion for our youth. He was a GREAT father and husband and I know that he is proud of you both, and I'm proud to call him Son In Law! God Bless both you and Erica and may Eric's essense and spirit always surround and embrace you both!

Dear Shawn & Erica,
My husband has 36 years in law enforcement but thank god finally retired to take an easy job working in a library 20 hours a week. Well, it's not 100% safe but I sleep better at night... I say that and it's 2am here.
My heart is with you two forever. I am a lawyer and quit to teach college because I could not stand representing slimeballs.
Know you will meet again soon.

Eric,
You cross my mind from time to time. I'm glad I found this page to leave a reflection for you. I worked at Moo and Oink with you and your partner Andre when you were working off duty security back in 1996. I will never forget the day that I watched the news and found out that you passed. I also cannot forget the next day front page sun-times photo of your partner Andre grieving for you. You were a good brother and always had encouraging words for younger brothers like myself. God bless you family and rest in peace.

My 7-year old son would sometimes ask:
"Who am I named after" or "where did you get my name?"
While in Chicago last year, I took D. Eric to the Gold Star Memorial. He helped me stencil your name and realized the name.
He looks at a picture of you and tries to figure out whyis he named after you. When I told him that you were my partner and now in heaven, he understood far beyond his years.
He then said: "does that mean that him and grandpa are watching us from heaven?"
Your End of Watch on Earth came 8 years ago; but, we know you're still keeping watch over all of us. May our Lord bless your family today and always and may He continue to be with Shawn and Erica.

Just by happenstance I have met your brother Mark. We do not know one another per se, but you are a man in blue and that is something I know well. I appreciate the sacrifice you have made for not only your neighborhood but also your country as a Marine. Thank you Officer Lee. You will never be forgotten!
To Officer Lee's family: I am so sorry for your loss. I am a FF/Paramedic in NC and truly understand your loss. Three members of our county NCSHP troop have been killed in the line of duty (Mst. Sgt. Calvin E. Taylor, Oct. 3, 2001; Sr. Trooper Anthony G. Cogdill, May 30, 2003; David Shaun Blanton, June 17, 2008). These men were loved, and respected and are deeply missed EVERY DAY, just as I know your husband, father, son, nephew, uncle is missed. God bless each of you. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
Sincerely,

Sweetie,
It's been such a long time that I've actually sat here and typed anything but I visit here frequently because this is what brings me comfort. Reading reflection after reflection of the impact you made on so many. Men, women, children, known and unknown. You are such a big part of my heart and your spirit still lives in us daily.
Yes, your baby girl graduated 8th grade, head held high as she marched across the stage in her white robe. Yes, she made National Junior Honor Society and it was and still is a very proud moment.
She misses you more than you'll ever know and we talk more and more about the man, friend, father and husband you were to us.
Continue to smile on us...
Love you eternally!
Mrs. Shawn Lee
