Reflections for Police Officer Eric D. Lee

The Ultimate Sacrifice. ...Words that we here used way too often to describe the loss of an officer. Comforting words for family members, but none-too-comforting for those of us who could be next. Nonetheless, we all pin on that badge, strap on that gun, and face an uncertain future every time we go to work. Do not let Eric die in vain. Rather, let his passing serve to remind us all how mortal we are. Every officer's number-one goal should be to go home at the end of his or her shift. Anything else that they are able to accomplish during the shift is purely extra.

To Eric's family and friends, we offer our deepest condolences and a reminder to you that Eric obviously died doing what he loved...no one would stay in this job if it weren't true.

I heard about Officer Lee's death after watching the Cubs doubleheader and from WGN news. As a former Chicagoan from the Southside, I also mourn his death. The news report showed a man dedicated to his job and helping the community.
In a perfect world, I'd still have a job, it'd be that of dispatching medics to the sick though. We wouldn't need police to protect us from the social wrongs of society.
Since there is no perfect world. I as always, still am thankful for everyone of us that works the frontlines to help make this world a better place.
May Officer Lee rest in peace and know that he did do good for the city which he served. His life was not taken in vain.
And to those of you that had to deal with, handle, and cope with this tragedy, my prayers are with you. I am sure he knows you did all you could to help and save him.
And to you in Chicago, still protecting, serving and getting my friends and family their help. Thank you!!!!!!

To the Family and Friends,

Eric is now seeing the face of God. He will be among those who will cry Holy unto God. Let us see what eric can see now and cry Holy, for He is Holy.
Eric has completed his journey, are we ready for our journey to end? If so where will we go? The time is now that we give our hearts to Christ for we know not for what tomorrow brings.

God, keep your hand on this family and comfort them with your Spirit.
In Christ Name
AMEN

We never know do we? Officer Eric Lee did his duty, beyond and above the call! He is a brother in law enforcement we will always cherish and miss. My prayers and regards to his family. We go out each day to hopefully keep this from happening to anyone, much less another Officer. May he rest in peace and look down upon me from heaven.

I am so sorry to see another Chicago Police Officer killed in the line of duty. This makes two this year, no Cop should die doing their job. It's a little more personal for me when a Chicago Cop gets killed, because my uncle died in 84 wearing a Chicago Uniform trying to take down an armed robber. My condolences to Chicago's finest and to Officer Lee's family. Rest in peace my Brother in the thin blue sky and say hello to my uncle.

Officer Lee,
My prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family. I am a brother in blue to you. It saddens me that a lot of people these days do not have any respect for police officers or for the job that we do. You are a hero, you fought for your country as a Marine and your fought to make the Englewood neighborhood a better place for all. May God bless you. You will not be forgotten. Please look over all police officers so that another officer will never lose their life.

Officer Lee and family,
I am sorry to hear about the death of Eric. I wish you all well and prayers daily. I don't understand how someone could just do that to anyone. Eric is now in a better place and got there by doing what he did best, making the world a better place. Thank you Officer Lee for all you have done. I appreciate it. Take care and be safe.

I never dreamed it would be me
My name for all eternity
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more my face

"In the line of duty" I hear them say
My family now the price will pay
My folded flag stained with their tears
We only had those few short years

The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray they keep this thought in mind

I never dreamed it would be me
And with heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all here from the past
Dear God, let my name be the last
