Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Kevin Dale Cox

Kevin, my brother, you will be missed. I look forward to seeing you on the other side.

Capt Glen Fowler
Lubbock PD

I have followed the ODMP for the past several months - ever since a dear friend of mine confided she is pursuing her lifelong dream of becoming a police officer. My friend has a year old son with her husband, a firefighter.

It breaks my heart to read the total disregard people have for human life. I must sadly admit, I truly hope my dear friend is not successful in her efforts of joining her local law enforcement department. The thought that her son could lose his mother...

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of
Sergeant Cox - and all of the families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty.

TO THE FAMILY OF SGT. KEVIN COX, I HAVE A WIFE AND ONE CHILD, A 6 MONTH OLD. I DEAL WITH THE STRESSES OF LAW ENFORCEMENT WORK ON A DAILY BASIS. I LOVE WHAT I DO. I WISH THERE WERE MORE OFFICERS LIKE YOUR HUSBAND AND FATHER THAT PUT THEIR LIFE ON THE LINE. BE PROUD THAT HE WAS DOING HIS PART TO KEEP YOU SAFE. YOUR FAMILY WILL BE IN MY FAMILY'S THOUGHT'S AND PRAYERS.

Policeman's 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,
His comforting hand reduces fear to naught;
He makes me walk through streets of crime,
But He gives me courage and peace of mind.

He leads me by still waters in the path I trod,
And He says in Romans I'm a "minister of God,"
He leads me in righteousness as He restores my soul,
For His name's sake He keeps me whole.

When I walk through death's valley, right up to the door,
I will fear no evil, for He comforts me more;
For Thou art with me every step of the way,
As thy rod and thy staff protect me each day.

He prepares a table, especially for me,
As I work daily among life's enemies;
He gives me authority to uphold the law,
And He anoints my position in the midst of it all.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me,
Each day of my life through eternity;
As I long to hear Him say, "Well done...,"
When I lay down my life, my badge, and my gun.

My thoughts and prayers to the Families and this fine department that has lost two of it's Brothers in less than a week.

Inspector Tim Huff
US Customs, Washington State

Brother Cox may you rest in peace.

CANINE OFFICER, DANIEL CANZANO
UNITED STATES CUSTOMS SERVICE

You died so that others may live. God bless your family.

My prayers are with the family, friends, and fellow officers of Sergeant Cox. I see that this is the second death in 5 days for his dept... I pray that you feel the comfort of God, which will get you through this difficult time. At this very moment, SWAT officers in my county are in the process of saving the lives of armed robbery victims who are locked in a room at a store nearby. Officers will search the store for hiding suspects soon I believe. Thank you Sergeant Cox and all officers who step in the line of fire for us all each day when you put on the uniform. God bless you all.
