Hi babe, it's me. Just thought I would write a little something. We miss ever day and it still hurts as if it was just yesterday. The boys are so big as I know you know. I feel you around still and thats the best feeling ever! We just got back from camp which the c.o.p.s have for fallen officers children and it was both hard and nice. It helped us so much. The boys are already excitied for next year. They meet so many kids and they don't feel alone. They couldn't believe how many children have lost a father or mother in the line of duty. We are hoping to go to D.C. next year and the boys are excitied. Now that they are bigger I hope they can see and understand it better. I know you will be there, you've never left us. Like you promised you will always help raise our children and I feel you are. Thank you and I love you now and always. Please give my dad a hug and kiss.

WOW! Never knew that this page was here! So long since your death and I am always having thoughts of you daily. I will never forget the pain that I felt the day I heard the news. I will always remember and never forget you! I have dreams of you frequently and when I wake up I am so happy and then remember your gone. Always wanted our kids to grow up together like we did. Visited your dad the other dad hadn't seen him since the funeral. We had a good visit and boy we had a good time talking about you. Remembering when you got depants when we were fishing. Your dad sure does miss u but he is damn proud of you. Just like the old times our dads are hanging out again. I miss you and will never forget you. Your a hero!

Deputy Lopez,

I did not get the opportunity to work with you, but as an ex PCSO Deputy (Charlie 209) I did attend your funeral and mourned your loss with your family, friends and brothers in law enforcement. The loss of a fine office is always tragic to not only those who knew him but the community he serves as well. I wish I had found this site before now to share with your family my sympathies. May God Bless you and them as they endeavor on without you.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

This anniversary day must be a difficult day for the family of Deputy Lopez. I bet that sometimes it feels like yesterday that you last saw him; other days it probably feels like forever.

Deputy Lopez's family - you are not alone and he is not forgotten.

RIP brother Lopez. Watch over your brothers in blue.

Six years have passed and those that love you dearly have thought of you ever day during that time. For some the time has passed quickly, for others it has been an eternity since they heard you laugh or saw your smile. Keep watch over all your loved ones and those still out on patrol keeping watch over the Thin Blue Line. You will never be forgotten.

Hi J....
I can't believe it has been 6 years....... I know you are watching over us every day. It (almost) seems like I am on the radio when something happens to one of my deputies..... Encisco had a pretty bad accident a while back... I heard that it could have been way worse.. I could hear him screaming in the background when Boldin was giving me updates.. I care so much about the people around me, including those that don't like me much.... I have learned to not take people for granted and let them know how I feel about them... You never know what the future holds, especially when everything happens for a reason.... Well... Enough babbling.....
Until we meet again J...

J
The anniversary of your death is around the corner. 6 years seem like yesterday.

I was remembering your passing and talked about it in length to a close friend.
On that day, my telephone was rinning off the wall, with family hearing about an officer shot in Az City and they were checking to see if I was on duty. It was not my time.
I remember going to your Dad & Deb's, waiting for them to come home. They had gone to Phx, thinking you had been flown there. Everything moved in slow motion, listing to the radio and hearing the quietness. I finally broke away and went to the radio room, as all the dispatchers were beyond consollation. Leaky was not the same for a long time! (but you knew she was not well to begin with, huh :)

You know, I pray for you, and all my friends who still wear the badge. I wish that no other Officer would have to lose their life in the line of duty, but that is life. We all take that risk when we pin the badge.

To Officer Hoffman from Coolidge PD: Jason IS out there! I wrote for Akins, Rankin and myself a "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"on this site a few pages back, for we used to meet at the fairgrounds (Alpha, Bravo & Charlie 10-45) And we saw this Bright Green Star every night. Jason was out on patrol with US! So believe that he signed back at you! Right Jay?
Happy 6th anniversary Dogg. Rest in Peace.

My kids and I were riding our bikes down Santa Cruz Blvd when Officer Lopez made the turn to go to the house where he was shot.

Six years later, we no longer live there, but we remember that we may have been one of the last people to see him alive.

Our prayers are still with his family, always.
