Where most kids these days wonder who their father is or where he might be, your children will SURELY know who you were, who THEY are, and never hang their heads in shame or disgust, but instead they can walk proudly and even brag. You were much too young to go, your family too young to be left behind, yet we all know the dangers we face each day.

Thank you for your time, your service, your integrity. Look over the rest of us, as you look over your family.

On the "anniversary" of your passing (I hate that word, sorry!) rest assured there are others who will carry on your name, your honor, your commitment.

Rest easy, bro....we will take it from here.

Hi Rob 3-18-08 was a terrible day for me Going to lunch that day there is a funeral home in Freehold where we eat lunch. There was a firetruck in front of the funeral
home they had just finished putting on top a casket and
flowers Boy did that bring back memories I think that
was a sign from you to tell me you are ok
Rob 7 years of you gone and the days don't get any better
love you forever Mom

Today I was weeding at the accident site of a
deputy sheriff who lost his life also in 2001. He was
Whatcom county, WA's first casuality. I didn't know him
either, but he was a neighbor and I feel it is our duty to
keep his memory alive so he won't have died in vain.
Although it has been 8 years today, I know the pain
never subsides and my thoughts are with you who will
always miss Robert. I hope he knows how much he
was loved.

To the family of Patrolman Ventura, my prayers are with you all. Today marks 7 years but it is eternally that your loved one is with the Almighty God. He served his time here on earth. The memories will forever last. Keep him in your thoughts. I pray that God will strengthen you with His love and presence. May you find peace in your hearts knowing there are others praying for you, though we may have never met but being in law enforcement brings a whole new family together. Keep pressing on and teach the little ones the love their dad had and to love others.

The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Officer Ventura ~ You have not been forgotten, nor will you ever be. We think about you and your family often - pray that they are doing well in your absence, that they are staying strong for one another and keeping you alive with the many wonderful memories you have made together. We still have your sticker on our cars, a constant memory of an angel in blue watching over us.
God Bless.
