To Trooper John Robert Davis, his daughter Heather, and his loved ones:

On this the fifth anniversary of your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today.

My heart goes out to your family. You’re in our thoughts and our prayers.

Trooper Davis, you rescued us, saved our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.

This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.

Rest in Peace, Trooper John Robert Davis. I am humbled by your valor, courage, and dedication.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Trooper Davis gave to his community and the citizens of Tennessee, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on March 17, 2001.

Daddy, it doesn't seem like it has been four years since you were taken from us. There are no words to express how much I miss you. Just a few weeks ago Todd Larkins, another great trooper, was laid to rest. I'm sure you two are patroling together up there in heaven with those unforgetable smiles on your faces. I love you, Dad.

John Robert, The memories of you will forever be my inspiration. Since leaving law enforcement, I was traveling I-40 one day and saw a portion of the interstate dedicated to you. My heart felt as if there were a hole in it... You were and are loved by all persons you encountered on this earth. You now can watch upon us all. Your loving touch you left on everyones heart will live on forever.....Rest in Peace my friend.

Trp. Davis was a real asset to THP. He always had a grinn on his face. I was only able to meet him one time. The one time I met him he was really nice. He really did not konw me but he really gave me someone to aspire to be like. I have always wanted to go into Law Enforcement and he gave me someone to want to be like.

Trooper John Robert Davis,

He was a great guy. John Robert had this grin that would go from ear to ear. He was always a very helpful person. I know that he was a real asset to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Trooper Davis' wreck occured about 15 miles from my house. As a college student majoring in criminal justice and wanting to pursue a career with the THP, his crash serves as a reminder that we are only human. I didn't know of him until the accident but I am sure that he was a great man and he is greatly missed. He paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect the state of Tennessee. Thank you Trp. Davis for everything.

The day that Trp. Davis was killed, I felt an empty space in my heart. I have heard nothing but great things about him through out the years. To his Daughter Heather, May the Lord be with you. God Bless.

You gave the ultimate sacrifice. You may be gone, but you will NEVER be forgotten. We are all family in this job, sometimes we are the only family each other has. In pace requiescat, Rest in peace! Keep a watch on the rest of us as we go on shift each day.

John Robert we all miss you everyday. Especially on days like yesterday. We had the spring cookout on Potter Road and your assistance was greatly missed. Keeping the burn barrel going and the coals under the ribs and chicken isn't the same without your expertise. Your grin and easy going disposition is sorely missed every day at work and on relaxing days. Rest easy my brother and keep a close watch over us as we keep up the good fight. We will see you one day so reserve us all a place beside you in that patrol car above.

Lt. Chip Miller

I didn't know Trooper Davis as well as some. It has been a couple months ago when I met him. This should be a reminder to everyone that it could have been any of us. No one can predict what will happen when an Officer answers a call, stops a car, goes into a building,or sadly enough even patrols down the road. This should teach us just how uncontrolable life is and that no one knows when it is their time to go. I guess all in all we should keep the brotherhood of Law Enforcement as close as possible because there might not always be one more day. To Trooper Davis and his Family...May God Be With You.......

To my friend and brother, it has been just over a year since I saw you last, your sheepish grin and quiet demeanor hid your greatest qualities, a huge heart of gold. I cried that night not for you, as you're now one of the great law men of heaven, but for me and all the people who you affected and touched, for we are the ones who now suffer without you to stand by us. My brother, keep your passenger seat empty for someday I will patrol those highways with you. Thank you, John, for always being there for me, then, now and always.

John Robert you sure are missed here. Your big smile, your hearty laughs. Take care my Brother and watch out over us who are still fighting the war. To your family and friends May God Bless and Comfort you. The Lord is my Sheppard...

I personally didn't know Officer Davis, but I saw him for a short while before he passed on.Our fire district was paged out just minutes after his terrible crash. As I was the first firefighter from the district on scene I asked the local law enforcement what I could do to help out. They responded by saying they needed me to setup a landing zone for lifeflight.I left the seen to a nearby feild and setup a spot for the chopper and waited patiently for lifeflight to arrive.I helped the local A.S.I paramedics, lifeflight technicians and law enforcement load Officer Davis into the waiting chopper, and never did it cross my mind I wouldnt ever see him be able to perform what I was told he loved to do!Protect Tennessee's highways and we won't forget you. Peace!
