I learned of your death when positng a reflection for your father. Your family endured such great tragedy suffering two line of duty deaths.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 65th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never dimishes respect, and your memory will always be honored and revered. .

Rest In Peace

Chief Martin - You remind us that no earthly rank or title exempts us from the dangers of police work. Please let yours be that "little voice" which reminds us to exercise caution when handling calls normally handled by our officers. Two Fridays ago, I stood in the State Assembly hall when they voted on a motion in regards to next month's Peace Officers Memorial week. Your name was one of the almost 250 read off. Thank you for your service to the people of Las Animas County and the State of Colorado. You are not forgotten. May God Grant you eternal rest and may His perpetual light shine upon you.

My Uncle Clarence was a wonderful caring person. He was a hero in many peoples eyes, not only his family. He was proud to be a lawman and he performed his job well. He will always be remembered as well as my grandfather Sheriff R E Martin who gave his life in the line of duty many years before. Pauline Martin
