Brother John,
I had the privledge of attending your funeral and honoring a true hero. I was on the way to attend bomb school in Alabama for 2-months when I learned of your death. Although I was going to be away from family for a long period of time, I felt I needed to leave 2-days early to attend the funeral of a fallen brother.
At your service, I heard a lot about the man, the trooper, the husband and the father. You were truely a loved man.
God speed brother John. Thank you for standing the thin blue line so the rest of us can rest easy.
Fraternally,
Sgt. Mike Edes

No words can express my sorrow for this tragady. The sentence given to the one responsible is another tragady. Our area recently lost a Trooper that was struck by a reckless truck driver and his sentence was similar, our lives in this profession seem to be less important now days. God bless you and thank you for your service. We will not give up.

Rest in peace, comrade. Your dedication to this job is apparent, and although it goes unnoticed or unappreciated by many, your fellow officers sure seemed to know it. You died doing a job that most cannot do. Salute.

Hey John, I was just thinking of you and was talking about you and I thought I would give you a visit. There is still not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. I wish that there were more Troopers and Officers that could be like you were. Well my brother I just wanted to let you know that you are not nor will you ever be forgotten.

I've never known anyone who had more pride in his uniform and his profession than John Mann. Always polished and spitshined he just exuded professionalism. We lost a good one when we lost him.

Trooper Mann gave his life in the service of his state and its citizens. May he rest in peace.

I met you several years ago when I worked for the department of safety. I was always impressed with your appearance and professionalism. However, I learned of your kindness when one of our students died in an automobile accident. You took the time to come to the university to find someone here to identify him just to ease a little of the pain for the family. You loved TSU and TSU will miss you.

receiving 45 days for killing a trooper is simply amazing!
I do pray that the people responsible for that sentence get the same treatment.

Well John, it has been a while since i visited you here, even tho there is not a day that goes by that i don't think of you. I guess you never thought that you would touch so many lives so deeply and that those lives would forever be touched and changed as GOD gathered the best that cold, snowy morning.
I just wanted to tell you that we still love you and miss you. We always will, but I know that you are still on duty watching over us and still serving and protecting.

Hey John - its seems strange that you have been away from us for 2 years, but I just want you to know that all of the members of the National Black State Troopers Coalition, Inc. miss you. We will be honoring your commitment to our organization this year by awarding the Trooper John G. Mann memorial scholarship.

It's not enough, but it is our way to honor your watch. Rest in Peace.

Trooper Mann,

Soon, in a few hours, it will be New Year's Day 2003. As always, I'll be working. As I drive to and from work the first day of the New Year, I'll again be thinking of you, grateful for your years of service to TN. And likely, due to actions you took while on the job, I'll be just a little bit safer still...

Rest in peace.

My brother it has been nearly 2 years and countless number of tears up to this point. From the moment we met you were forever forged in my mind...you immediately became a forever friend. I still can't believe it was you. That night, the saturation, the snow, your voice, your final expression...I wish I were not there. I can't seem to drive those images out of my mind. You were larger than life to me. You epitomized the essence of a trooper and I wished so much to continue to learn from you. If I could capture a fourth of what you are then I know that my work in this field will never be in vain. That dreafdul night, the last conversation we had concerned church. This brings me comfort as I know that you were saved. Therefore, I am reassured by our final words, "I'll see you later."

Dear John
It has been a little over a year since the good lord called you to patrol the highways of heaven.I have thought about how you left us and that void cannot be filled. Although your time was short, you left a very favorable impression on everyone you came in contact with.

I know of no one who knew John Mann that had a bad memory or thing to say about you.Troop John Mann will always be remembered as one of Tennessee top cops and he paid the ultimate top cop price. GOOD NIGHT not GOODBYE my Brother because I look forward to seeing you again someday.

PO II
Metro/Nashville Police Dept.

Well, My Brother, the sentence that was handed down was an insult to all that you stood for, your family, and all of Law Enforcement families everywhere. 45 days jail time for a person that takes a life, what direction is this world headed for. I was raised in the Church, a country boy, I have heard time and time again through the years, forgive, forgive. I might be able to later in life, but cannot at this time muster enough of something to forgive. The investigators did their job, but it sure did break down when it hit our great judical system. If only I had as much strength as your Mother displayed when she sang at your service.
Take care friend, hold me a place, some day I'll be there.

Well Brother the verdict is in and it is not enough. So we have to leave it to the Master to handle when he reaches the Judgement Day. We miss you. To the family, May God Bless.
