Eric, thank you for your service to your country and community! You are remembered.

I always chuckle at the memory of the first Toys for Tots drive we worked together. We "raised" a ton of cash that cold weekend in front of Toys R Us, only to find out later that it was against regulations to "solicit funds". Hey, who can say No to the dress blues, right! I'm sure that cash put smiles on a lot of kids' faces that Christmas.

I was scheduled to work the interstate the day Tigger was killed but decided to burn a day. Every time I think about Eric's death I get chills because had I been working the I, I could have easily been the trooper that came upon the moped instead of Eric. Most of the other deaths of troopers I knew I could say "I would have been ok because I would have done..........." but with Eric's, I would have done exactly what he did, and I would have been the one that got shot.

We came across this site while visiting our sons site....unfortunately, he was the next Nicholson to die in the line of duty. He died, too, from gunfire while attempting to make an arrest. Thank you, Brother Nicholson. for your sacrifice and dedication to the safety and welfare of us all.

Eric, my brother and freind. I was there the day you ended your watch. I cried the tears that all of our brothers and sisters cried when they heard of your demise. I watched as our brothers scrambled to catch the dirt bag that did this to you. i heard the sirens wail as they transported you to greenville memorial. i heard the reports from fellow officers and freinds that you did not make it. I saw the motor cade that carried you to your final reswting place, i heard the final call, c181... c-181.... c181 end of watch... i heard the taps and watch as they carried your casket, through feilds of blue and grey, faces shared the same expression as i did. i did not serve with you but to this day, i wear the band on my wrist that bears your name. and i remember ... that we were freinds. i remember that we were brothers, i remember that we will see each other again. i miss you eric. i cannot come to visit you though i wish that i could. i have moved on in life but know this my brother and freind, i have not forgotten. god bless and ill see you again.

I still think of you often and especially this week in December, it always feels the same just like it did 10 years ago. I just hope you know how much you are missed. I treasure the memories I have of you and the time we spent together when life was simple and we were young. Thank you for the memories and the laughs.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the ninth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. He was your brother in green as well so I must bid you semper fi.

I pray for solace for all those who love and miss you.

9 years ago. So sad you were cheated out of living more of your dreams. America needs more fine men like you. You have a special place in all the hearts of people that knew and loved you. Thanks for your wonderful sacrifice of service to America.

I just saw your wife on TV talking about the NC Trooper killed a few days ago. You should be proud of her she seems to ba a very strong and good willed person. Its been eight years since you were taken away from her and she still had tears in her eyes speaking of you. That is True Love and you are lucky to have her. You will be together again and this pain will be whipped away for Goodness shall follow us the rest of our days. To the wife we are truly sorry of your loss. We are hear for you always. Respectfully.

Of all the Troopers killed in the line of duty here in our state, I will always remember you the most. I will never forget the day that you left this earth. I was in patrol school and was two days from graduating. I remember all the other guys talking about how cool it was going to be to drive that silver bullet to our asigned counties. We were so exited that we were going to be the man in grey! The instructors with tears in their eyes gathered us in a classroom to tell us the news and to hand out funeral bands for our shiny new badges. It was such an overwhelming feeling to hear the tragic news. On one hand we were exited to be graduating and on the other we had a hard time expressing that feeling due to our sadness. I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice to this great state! Rest in peace brother, and watch over us as we continue the fight!

I knew you as Private Eric Nicholson , We stood side by side in formation for what seemed an eternity at Parris Island (Plt. 2005)and we walked the parade deck on Jan 10. 1992 and were called Marines for the first time together, I remembered you as soon as I saw the picture here 16 years later and I could not believe what I know to be true .
I became a Police Officer in 1998 after leaving the Corps I guess about the same time you began your career as a Trooper.
So many of us are drawn to this line of work I guess it just seems natural for us to risk our lives to protect others ,You made the ultimate Sacrifice doing what you beleived in and there is no greater a Hero than those that lay down their lives for others.
You are a Hero God Bless You , Semper Fi Brother
