Jeff,

I currently work for Craven County S/O and just wanted to say you’re not forgotten. I recently visited the National LEO memorial in DC and saw your name forever engraved in stone. Thank you for your service.

Hey big brother, The holidays are here and I miss you so much. Your children are grown now and have babies of their own, you would be so proud. A single blue candle stands in the window during this holiday, for you. I know you are patrolling the streets of Heaven...

Jeff,
Its been a few years since I last posted. A lot has happened since. When I was overseas, I got hurt and since then have had to put my goal of becoming LEO on hold. Breaks my heart cause you are a true inspiration. I am actually on my way out of the military on either a medical retirement or medical separation. Breaks my heart to do so but I know you are looking over me. I went to DC last year and tried to go by the memorial to see your name, but for some reason the memorial wasn't open. I miss you and think about you all the time. Thank you for all the amazing memories I have as a kid. "The only line that is brave enough to stand between good and evil, just happens to be blue."

Hey Jeff,
Sorry it took soo long but I was thinkin about you today and decided to look up your name and found this.. I will never forget the day my mom and dad told me the news... You were litterally like a 2nd father to me.. I remember growin up and havin Christina babysit me while you and my dad were out havin the time of yalls lives.. Ive grown up alot now. I enlisted into the Air Force Reserve as Security Forces about 3.5 years ago and finally got orders to come to this great country of Afghanistan. I kno you are watchin over me. Ive decided to persue a career in Law Enforcement because you inspired me. I kno that youll be watchin over me as I go through this chapter in life just as you are right now as I type this. I just want you to kno that you are loved and missed very much!! You are one of my heros and I will never forget 135, Craven!

I have your picture along with many others that cycle on my computer throughout the day. Your image ensures that I remember to always keep your spirit of perseverance with me. Recently I spent some time back home in Yuma where we worked together and when I drove by our old neighborhood I immediately had a vivid memory of us running together (you pushing me as always) on the east main canal behind our houses and it brought back a lot of happy memories. In reading previous messages from your kids I know how proud you must be of them all as they all are doing you proud. - Miss you brother

Hey Jeff, whats up bro. I know I'm a couple of days late, but, you know me, I'm always late. Actually, I was off on the 21st and my internet router wasn't working. I was working this weekend with 50's (we're short and I'm helping out.)
151 happned to be in Comm with me at around 0130 hrs on Friday night/Saturday morning when a sudden cold chill over came me. I looked at the radio clock and realized what time it was. Although the date is different (it was actually the morning of the 18th, my birthday) it was the same shift, same time. I miss you bro. Hey man, check this out. On my bedroom wall I have a your picture (the same one thats on this site) with the deputies prayer in the same frame. Rich, Jr (who is now 9 years old, can you believe it) looked up at it and asked "Who is that deputy Daddy, why don't I ever see him?" I told him "Thats Jeff" and that you are his guardian angel. I then told him the story and about how bad I missed you. When I was all done he said "I miss him, too, Daddy." We all do, very much....

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Jeff gave to his community and the citizens of my home state of North Carolina, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on October 21, 2000.
