Reflections for Police Officer Bradley W. Matteson

Today marks the 12th anniversary and it is just unreal to me. I think about you every day but today is especially hard. I get sad but whenever I see your pictures with you smiling I cannot help but think more positively. Even with your passing you have taught me so much and have influenced my life greatly. I have you to thank for a lot of what I do and how I handle myself. I may do things you do not approve of, but hey, I am still your little girl so you cannot be mad at me. With that being said, just know that I am thinking about you and missing you, as always.

To all my friends and family back home I miss and love you all and I am thinking of you today as well!

Been thinking about you so much since Kevin's funeral. It brought back so many memories I did not even know I had, and though I am happy I can remember, it is painful. I'm going through a lot right now and hope you can help me through it. Please keep us safe and make smart decisions. Love you and miss you always.

Brad, you got to see a familiar face come to heaven today, take Kevin by your side and show him the ropes. Enjoy a cocktail and know we will do whatever we can do to help his family. Hopefully he has filled you in on the kids, he has gotten to see them grow up, he has been a good friend. Love you and miss you

well today I heard some news about an Indy officer and it brought me right back to a place I didn't want to remember. But as I did I began to think about the good things that we have all shared before and after and I just want everyone to remember you and your fellow officers and your lives, and your families. It never completely heals and maybe that is ok it keeps us open to each others pain but it sure suprises me when it takes me here. We miss you

Happy Thanksgiving :-) the kids and I are going to dinner with your dad tonight. it seems as if you will be greeting him soon, he has been in great spirits when I have talked to him and is very accepting of what is ahead of him. I know you will be there for him and how lucky of him to see you again and have you there waiting on him. we miss you and love you

As your ten year anniversary approached I have been thinking of you so much. It is really hard to be away from all my family as I mourn your loss. I cannot believe it has been ten years. So much has changed and I am so happy, but I still think about you and miss you daily. I wish more than anything that you could see what I have become. I am now at Ball State pursuing my life long dream of being a counselor and loving every second of it. Please keep watching over us and remember how much we truly love and miss you. You have not been forgotten. love love love.

Officer Matteson, nine (9) years later you are still remembered.

Thank you for your service of nineteen years.

The citizens of Indiana were well protected under your watch.

A tragic and unnecessaary loss.

and then there was 9 years, I don't think a day goes by still that something is mentioned or thought of by any one of us. It still amazes me how many people's lives you touched. We miss you and love you

i miss you so much. as i sit here crying and listening to angels by robin thicke i am thinking about you and blake and the dance i dedicated to both of you. i miss you both so much. its been 8 years and 6 days. i wish i remembered you more but i was just so young. i still eat your speghetti out of the box and drink those orange julius's. i hope you are so proud of me. i still dont go a day without thinking of you. i hope you have gotten to meet by boy blakey.
"you are beautiful and sweet!
you are smart and funny!
you are a great skater and i love to watch you perform.
you are very special.
you are my daughter and i am your dad.
i love you very much,
you are not perfect, no one is perfect.
i only expect you to do your best and that is all anyone can do.
you make mistakes, i make mistakes.
i've made a lot more mistakes than you and that is why i am smarter than you.
you will always be my daughter and i will always love you.
thanks for being my little girl.
love,
dad."

It is amazing that 8 years has passed since you left us. Not a day passes that you are not in our thoughts. We love you and miss you. We could put many other words and saying on here but that is the bottom line, we love and miss you.

Your family

October 5, 2008

It has been 5 years since I posted a reflection and I just finished reading all the messages here. Brad served proudly and was deeply loved and respected by those who knew him. It is a tragedy to lose him. We never know when our lives on this earth will end, but we can make a reservation in Heaven now and assure us a place when God calls us to Himself. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6) and He PAID the price for our sins on the Cross so we don't have to pay the penalty for our sins. Yipee! If we accept His payment by faith we can have salvation and spend eternity with Him in Heaven. It is not something we must earn, it is a gift. The most precious one we can ever receive. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith_and this not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God_not by good deeds, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2: 8,9. For without faith, it is impossible to please God. And our faith must be in God's only Son, Jesus Christ.
You were a credit to the uniform, P.O. Matteson. My heart goes out to your
loved ones left behind and may the Lord comfort them as only He can.
