To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 13th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Thanks to your family and friends for sharing their devortion to you through their reflections.

12 years today. I miss you so much.
Your body may sleep, but your mind is never resting. In your dreams you try to turn back (even slow down) time to place yourself there in hopes things would turn out differently; only to awaken to the same outcome. Your mind never rests. Your heart breaks and hardens a little more. Your perception of the general public grows a little more dim. You trust a little less. You push away the ones who lo...ve you a little more, yet you attempt not to show what's truly on your mind. Your mind never rests. You hold in your emotions because you're suppose to be the tough one. You pray a little harder. You try to remember your last conversation, but you never completely remember every detail, even though you want to so badly. Again, your mind never rests. You fight back the tears, the anger, the frustration so no one will know how you're feeling. It gets a little more bearable, but it never ends.
NEVER FORGOTTEN.

On the eve of the 12th anniversary of your tragic death, we still remember and we will never forget. Two weeks ago, we lost two more of your brothers from the WVSP and was a reminder of that night. We miss you and we hope you are looking down on us as we keep your memory alive. RIP Deputy.

As the country is remembering the 10 yr. anniversary of 9/11/2001, I cannot get out of my mind 9/11/2000. Eleven years has passed and it still seems like yesterday. That week is still (and I'm guessing always will be) the worst time in my life. There is still not a day that goes by that I don't think of you brother. Law enforcement has changed so much since we worked together. There seems to no longer be a sense of brotherhood anymore, at least not to the extent you saw. Just remember that you are NEVER FORGOTTEN.

Crossing the Bar
Alfred Lord Tennyson

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

It's September 10. Tonight will make 8 yrs since I received the dreaded call...."We have an Officer down", the dispatcher stated. "You need to come out, the perp is still at large". Those words haunt me every day, but especially on this date. As all the past years, I will not be able to work tonight, It's like a sickness overwhelms me on this date.
Please watch over all our brothers and sisters tonight, I would hate to see another one perish on such a dreaded day.
Still Missing You Brother.....Remember, you are "NEVER FORGOTTEN"

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

You, as well as other officers, are a pure symbol of sacrifice. The amount of heart, dedication, and caring it takes to sacrifice everything for others. I remember when you and Tom would come in the ER together and would share your human and joking qualities when you had a moment to. When I heard what had happened, I was filled with shock and disbelief. I kept thinking, well myself and another SMH employee were just talking and joking around with him a few days ago. It was a type of sad I never felt before. I was sad (and still am) because you are gone, but honored at what you gave for your community to protect it. I thank you and all the other officers who help us when we call and protect us when we are threatened. Thank you.

Not a single day and usually not a single hour has went by that I do not think of you and rarely without tears. As so much has changed in my life since your untimely and senseless death, I often find myself wondering how things would be if you were still with us. I miss you so much Bill. I still remember the first call we went on together, the first time I met you. It seems like just yesterday. You were definitely my inspiration in changing career fields and moving up to the federal level. I wish you coulda been here to have done the same, but I know how much you loved the job. I'll NEVER forget you brother.
NEVER FORGOTTEN.
