Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Trooper Matthew Scott Evans

Matt was a great partner and a true friend, I was working that evening with him, and it is a night i will never forget.  Matt was very dedicated to his wife, partners and the patrol. He will be greatly missed.  My only wish is that something positive can and will come of this. God bless Matt and Jeff.  And just as Trooper B. Sugg said at Matt's funeral "Matt has the toughest job, he has alot of brown shirts to watch over."

Not only was Matt a great partner, but a great friend.  I had the honor of being one of his counslers during his patrol academy.  I then had the honor working with him on the hoot shift once he graduated the academy.  He always wanted to get out and work, never one to sit around to long.  He will be truly missed.

May God be with you and your family.  It is sad that another brother has been lost in the line of duty, especially someone that is young.  Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice for our safety.

My god bless you and your family.  You paid the ultimate sacrifice that has been paid by to many officers. You were doing a job I am sure that you loved as we all do. I will pray for your family to help them get thru this tough time.  You will not be forgotten by the Family of Law officers all across the country.  God Bless.

You helped me to commit to the endevour of being a Deputy.
If you can keep an eye on me, Hollie would appreciate it. Be mindful of those who still speak of you in reverence. They carry you with them on every shift.

What's Left Behind

Remember the day
immortality tested,
innocence lost.
Death slips in.
Perfect world
shatters--like glass.
Split second
tears through life;
like a tornado
with a trail of dreams
and tear filled hopes
Rips the image
of what I thought true,
childhood disbelief,
torn, destroyed.
What remains is broken,
distorted
yet somehow clearer.
what's left behind
is real

A tribute to a truly worthy trooper and his family. May the Lord, our God, remind us of what a wonderful being Matt was and is. When the situations got hot, he never once shunned the task. Matt, or Acorn, would be right there to lend a hand. We knew each other only in passing for less than one year, but this young man, this good humored trooper, could always put a smile on my face, no matter the situation or how stressful it got. His laughter will be missed but his presence felt forever. In God's presence we will be reunited, and the smiles will be adorned again.

Matt was more than a cousin, he was my brother. He always looked after my sisters and I. I miss him every day. I am so proud of the man he grew to be. I will always be grateful that he was here for the time he was and that I was allowed to be part of it. Thanks to all who put their lives on the line every day. God Bless and keep you safe.

Day is done
Gone the sun
From the lakes
From the hills
From the sky

All is well
safely rest
God is nigh

Fading light
Dims the sight
And a star
Gems the sky
Gleaning bright

From afar
Drawing nigh
Falls the night

Then good night
peaceful night
Till the light
of the dawn
shineth bright

God is near
do not fear
Friend, good night

I NEVER KNEW MATT INDIVIDUALLY. I NEVER SAID HELLO TO HIM OR SHOOK HIS HAND IN MEETING. I DID KNOW HIM AS A BROTHER. A FELLOW BROWNSHIRT IS HOW I KNEW HIM..MY PARTNER WAS A LITTERMATE..I MOURNED HIS PASSING AS I DID OFFICER ROMINGER.
TWO BROTHERS WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES TO THEIR FELLOW MEN AND GAVE THEIR SOULS TO GOD.....AS I SAID BEFORE,,I NEVER SAID HELLO TO MATT AND AT HIS SERVICES I NEVER SAID GOODBYE FORE HE LIVES ON IN MY HEART AND HIS COURAGE IN MY BADGE.
