Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Trooper Terry Wayne Miller

Rest in peace, Sir! You are not forgotten.

Police Officer

June 8, 2007

While with the San Patricio County Sheriff's Department I was Terry's sergeant and he was one of "my boys". I was very proud of him when he told me that he was going to become a state trooper. I will never forget that October night when I was informed that Terry's watch had eneded in an ambush. My prayers are with you Terry and your family. I know that you are looking down on us and protecting all our brothers and sisters who wear the badge. God Bless.

Chief Hector C. Sanchez
Mathis Police Department

God bless you and your family.

Our families spent every holiday together in my grandparents home there in Pleasanton. I am his widows cousin. He was so much a part of the holiday atmosphere those years and I do miss it so. My grandparents became close to him and were very proud of him and loved him very much. They both past 7 months apart and right before Terry. I know they are all still with us in spirit every holiday. I know all of the prayers and thoughts are greatly appriciated by the family. Please continue to pray and think of ALL who give of themselves "to protect and serve".

THERE ARE NO WORDS THAT CAN BE SAID TO EASE YOUR PAIN OF SUCH A GREAT LOSS. BUT KNOW THAT OTHERS ARE THINKING OF YOU TODAY AND THINKING OF TROOPER MILLER.
HE WAS TRULY A HERO AND WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN.

MOTHER OF A FALLEN DEPUTY.

Sleep safe with Our Lord Trooper Miller and may He Bless your loved ones.

October 12, 2006

My thoughts are with your loved ones on this 7th anniversary of your end of watch. I can not believe that the individual that killed 3 law enforcement officers and caused so much pain to so many loved ones had his sentence reduced to 30 years. Trooper Miller, you have not been forgotten. Your loved ones think of you every day and silent tears of love still flow from their hearts. Today will be a tough day, most are. There are no magic words I can offer them to help them with their grief except to keep your memory alive. You are a true hero and heroes never die.

O lord
I remember the ringing of the phone
At home asleep and all alone

I pushed away fatigue and answered the call
To learn the news of Terry’s fall

I jumped to my feet and grabbed my gun
But I was miles away and the deed had been done

I slumped to my knees and there I wept
Thinking of his child and a promise not kept

Murdered by a coward hiding in the wood
Arm in arm with Satan this monster stood

To take away a father, a brother, a friend
O lord I beg you make hell his end

He hated Terry’s badge and knew not the man
Does it make me wrong to pray him damned

For it has been six very long years
and the sound of Terry’s name still brings tears

Oh please help us, the ones left behind
Let it not be anger but peace we find

Miss you

I was Terry's mother-in-law. He was a great son-in-law, husband, and father. We still miss him to this day but are very proud of what he gave. He loved his job. We keep his memory alive to his little girl who is now 8. I get very upset when I read bad things about police officers or that games are being made to "kill a cop". They lay their lives every day on the line for us. THey aren't perfect but most give their all.

Terry it has almost been six years since you have been gone. For some brief history Terry and I were related and joined the Ploice Academy together in 1987.
It has taken a while for me to write but I think alot about you. You had finally acheived one of your goals to become a trooper. Your carrer was cut short by a deranged person for reason. I hope it will be a comfort to your family when I say you are finally resting in a better place.

In closing I have met few other people with your dedication and you payed the ultimate price. We will meet again until then God Bless.

Terry, Probably more than anyone, you were responsible for my becoming a police officer. I can remember like it was yesterday when you gave me the guidance I needed to fulfill my dream. That was 12 years ago when you were a San Patricio County Deputy and I was a US Navy military policeman stationed at Ingleside. The news of your death struck me like a hammer and it keeps on banging out your memory. I never really had the chance to thank you for your friendship and guidance that has been directly responsible for the success I enjoy this day both as an Officer and as a person. You are greatly missed and will never be forgotten.

I myself am from Pleasanton, where Trooper Miller was killed. Little did I know that down the road, that I too would marry a Texas Trooper, who ended up being in Terry's graduating class with DPS - A-97. I just want to let everyone know that officers put their lives on the line for everyone, everyday. So God Bless each and everyone of them. You will NEVER be forgotten!
