Reflections for Trooper David Warner "Rocky" Eales

Rocky was my friend and Tac Team parnter for 14 years, I was with him when he was murdered. I miss him, everyday there're now a minute goes by I'm not thinking about him, his family, or my other team mates..my brothers. I know the Rock is looking down on us. I wish I could have done more to save you Rock, I,m sorry...

Rocky was killed one month after my husband became a Trooper. My husband, Matt Evans OHP #895, graduated from the 51st Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy in August 1999. When I heard the news of Rocky's death, my heart stopped. Almost a year later, my heart stopped again. This time, it was my husband who had been killed. Rocky, Matt and Jeff are watching over us now. We can only pray that they are the last to pay the price.

I did not know Rocky personaly, but I feel as if I've known him for years, I've heard so much about him. I have just became a trooper. I am out of the 52nd Oklahoma Highway Patrol academy. Now that I have my "brown shirt" that means that Rocky is my brother. The entire 52nd academy is Rockys brothers. His memory will live forever with us because our academy was dedicated to him. I wish I could have met Rocky, We were trained by his best of friends& team members in the academy and we will try our best to live up to his standards. THE 52nd SALUTES YOU ROCKY 632 FOREVER

I am 37 years old, and I began my law enforcement career with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Explorer Post in Tulsa.

Trroper Eales was one of the first Troopers that I ever rode with.  His humor and caring is two of the main things that I remember about him.

Rocky was a real Trooper, one who could bust a head if needed, but could show kindness and compassion in a manner that one knew that it wasn't a show.

Good bye Rocky, you'll always be 10-8 with me.

I ONLY KNEW ROCKY FOR FEW YEARS, BUT MY MEMORIES OF HIM WILL LAST A LIFETIME. I MET ROCKY ON A DROPZONE IN NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA; HIM AND MY DAD SKYDIVED TOGETHER FOR YEARS.ROCKY WES ALWAYS GIVING ME A HARD TIME ABOUT MY DRIVING AND I'D WOULD JUST DRIVE FASTER. ONE DAY ON MY WAY HOME HE PULLED ME OVER AND CONTINUED TO GIVE ME A HARD TIME ABOUT MY DRIVING. LUCKLY HE DID NOT GIVE ME A TICKET, INSTEAD HE CALLED MY DAD (WHOSE TRUCK I WAS DRIVING). MY DAD SAID "ROCKY DIED DOING WHAT HE LOVED MOST" THIS MAY BE TRUE, BUT HIS LIFE WAS JUST BEGINNING WITH HIS CHILDERN.

Rocky was my husband of 9 years. When he died, a part of me died. But I am so lucky to have our 2 beautiful children to constantly remind me of him. Allison is 6 and Mackey is 2 and they look so much like him. He will forever be our hero!

Kelli Eales

It has been a long time since I have seen Rocky. I grew up with him slowing me down when needed or just stopping to talk. I have been a cop for 10 years now and I still use a lot of the skills I learned from observing Rocky's professionalism. He was what a cop should be, tough when needed, helpful, hard working, and above all always there whenever needed. The world has lost one of the best Troopers, as well as a great person.

September 16, 2002 they have finally started jury selection for the trial of the killer of Trooper Rocky Eales, three years after his death. I pray for justice. Rocky was as fine of a person you would ever hope to meet. He stood for courage, honor, brotherhood, and family. Rocky's life and career still has an positive influence on many. There's not a day go by that I don't think about some of the good times we had together. May the justice system honor his memory with true justice.

When I was with the Tulsa Police Department Rockie would workout at my gym (Tulsa Police Athletic Club) We also played football together on the Police team, and had alot of fun together working the streets. Rockie was a hero to many and a friend to even more. I will miss his energy, humor, courage and friendship. To Rockie's family and friends keep in mind TRUE HERO'S ARE NEVER FORGOTTEN. He will continue to be part of our lives forever.

I only had the privelage to serve a short time with Rocky on the Tactical Team. Even though I am on the "West Team" and The Rock was on the East Team, he was an inspiration to all of us "new guys". Rocky, I truly miss you and knowing that you are watching over us on every mission puts our hearts at ease. You were a true leader of men and we carry you with us everday. 632 forever
