Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff James Michael Phillips

It isn't goodbye....It's only till we meet again, but we miss you terribly and still love you dearly. You brought so many good things into all our lives and did so many nice things for so many people, even those who really didn't truly appreciate it. I have absolutely NO idea what we will do without you. You will remain alive in our hearts and our memories forever. Your gentle spirit will be with us always. You were a dedicated law enforcement officer and a true friend to everyone who knew the real you. Rest well, my friend.

I had known Mike for 16 years prior to the accident. He was the most loving, loyal and compassionate person I have ever known. He was essence of human kindness and a true friend to all who knew him. He was a very dedicated officer who had given almost 20 years of his life to law enforcement. I treasure every day that we ever spent together and will carry with me the beautiful memories of his life with me forever! He is sorely missed by all and will never be forgotten by any of us.

I too knew Mike as my cousin. He was one to always have a laugh no matter how hard times could be or have been. A man who would always lend a hand over his own personal needs and wants. His heart was full of love and compassion for his family and friends. He deserved a woman like he had and her children to give him the life he dreamed of as his own family... On his little or long bounty trips, if he would be traveling through where I lived he would always call and say "Hi". For a long distance family member he was the one to keep us informed of family times in LA. When you loose such a man as Mike, no one will ever replace him in every thing that he did in his life. I will always love you Mike and will NEVER forget you. God Bless to your friends and our family. We will keep your memory alive and good.

How does one begin to describe one of God's gift to mankind? I remember the days of riding bicycles in Welsh with Mike. I remember when Mike graduated from High School. I remember when he went into the Military to honor those in previous generations who had done likewise. I remember a telephone call at work from Mike telling me his Mother was with our Heavenly Father which was the birthday of my deceased sister as of 15 yrs. I remember the telephone call from Mike that his brother was with his Mother and then one week after returning home another call came from Mike that his Father was with his Mother and brother. The next call I received wasn't from Mike but the caller said....Mike is was his family in God's paradise.
Mike was very special to me and my family. He was ALWAYS there when you needed him. He was a pillar in the community and an one of a kind police officer...the kind that is really there to SERVE and PROTECT.
I look forward to the day when we can ride bicycles on streets of gold and be more than just cousins...but now SISTER and BROTHER in God's Kingdom.
As you continue to watch over me from above...receive my thoughts of you and yours.
I love you Mike..
