Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Kelly Fay Clark

To Deputy Kelly Clark, her daughter, and her loved ones:

On this the seventh anniversary week of your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today.

My heart goes out to your family. You’re in our thoughts and our prayers.

Kelly, you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.

This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.

Rest in Peace, Deputy Clark.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Kelly gave to her community and the citizens of Washington, and for the supreme sacrifice she and her family made on March 4, 1999.

It will soon be 7 years since you were called away from duty. You have not been forgotten and are a true hero. I know there is still pain in the hearts of those that love you. Keep watch over your loved ones and those still out on patrol. You will never be forgotten.

~~~Eternally and Always~~~
I didn't get to say goodbye
You're gone without a reason why
I've loved you all of my life
and then you weren't there
I didn't get a chance to say
how much I cared
I can't even remember the tears
that I cried
All I really wanted was to tell you
Goodbye
When I last saw you I felt I wouldn't
see you again
There was a distance between us
that I couldn't explain
You wouldn't look
at me but I could see the tears
in your eyes
If you knew then
You should have told me
Then I could have said
Goodbye
So many words left unspoken
So many hearts left so broken
My love for you is forever
And that will never die
We'll be together always
Our souls are one with God
Eternally and Always
I'll never have to say
Goodbye
My deepest condolences to the family and co-workers of Deputy Clark.  We at the International Association of Women Police salute you, Kelly, for the job you did for eight years.  I know why you put on that badge every day and we honor you.  Godspeed, Kelly.
Patrol Officer Donna C. Hillier
Purdue University Calumet Police Department, IN
Kelly was first and foremost, a friend. I knew her as a colleague, as a student and as a client, but most importantly as a friend. Anyone whoever knew her can appreciate that she was one of the "good ones"- an officer whose intelligence and sense of fair play were respected by all she came into contact with.
As a former prosecutor in T or C, I saw Kelly develop from a rookie deputy into one of the best criminal investigators I have ever worked with. When I became a defense attorney, I knew that when Kelly had done the investigation on a case I could not attack it. She was even-handed and willing to readily admit when she might have made a mistake (too few to even count on one hand).
I miss her every day. I use her tragic death as a reminder of why I returned to prosecution and why I continue to represent the officers, victims and our community in the effort to make our society a better place.
God bless you Kelly. You will always be remembered.
To My Lovely Daughter Lindsay:
As life has dealt a terrible tragedy to deal with, I want you to know that from this day on, any other obstacle that we shall encounter we shall deal with it "Walking Hand-In-Hand and Walking Side by Side". I shall guide you in the best way possible as "MOM" and I would have done together. I want you to know that I LOVE YOU and you are always in my heart and mind.
I LOVE YOU
Santi.
To the family and friends of Kelly Clark:
I had the privilege of last meeting Kelly in a RMIN class in 1998, in Hobbs, NM. She quickly proved herself to be intelligent and dedicated to the profession of law enforcement. She spoke often of her daughter and her friends during the course. I was stunned and deeply saddened at her senseless murder. I extend my condolences to you all. If I can help, please contact me.
To the family of Deputy Kelly Clark,
My heart aches for your loss. I have been where you are. My nephew was killed by a sniper on December 11, 1998. May God bring you strength for the days to come. Your hearts are breaking and for that I am so very sorry. I wish I could take all your pain away. May you feel some comfort knowing there are those who care and are so very sorry for your loss. God bless you all.
Rest in peace my sister in blue...watch over us and always remember that you will never be forgotten.
