Reflections for Master Deputy Steven Wesley Roberts

Steve - There's a special place in heaven for Police Officers and Motorcycle Officers in particular. Although I never knew you I feel the love of your friends and family through their messages. You are truly an angel. God bless you.

Kevin Mueller

Motorcycle Officer

Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department

Steve - Not a day has gone by that I haven't thought about you and how much I miss you!! You are the BEST Big Brother a baby sister could ever have (even though you were a little conceited), I love you very much!! I thank God for the wonderful memories of you that I have and will be able to cherish forever. You have always been and always will be very special to me. I know that you are in the Greatest place of all now, and that God is taking care of you. You are our "Angel Among Us" watching over us to strengthen us through this difficult time. We will take very good care of "Our Mama" and Joye, who we all know are, and will always be, very special to you!! I Love You Steve!

Your baby sister - Lisa

Steve, you have given the ultimate sacrifice to your chosen profession. All law enforcement officers will miss you and remember your dedication to your occupation and your way of life. You are a hero and a person that is well respected, not only for the job you did but also as the person you truly are. You are in God's hand now. Protect us all Steve and remember you will never be forgotten. God Bless you Steve.

Steven, you are the love of my life. I miss you terribly and what an emptiness I feel since you've been gone. Everyone tells me time will heal, but right now I can't even imagine how time could do anything but keep me from you. I loved our life together and I will always cherish our memories. I miss your sweet dimples and those piercing blue eyes so much. You were my very best friend and the sunshine in my life. You were a great father to Wesley and Michael (and Suzi, Molly & Dakota :>). I don't feel much like smiling these days, however I do when I think of you being in Heaven-no receding hair line, no farmer's tan or sun burnt nose and you've lost those 40 pounds you wanted to lose before our wedding. You are perfect now (not that I didn't think you were perfect before!) Go my sweetheart, ride those streets of gold and good luck on your new journey and hey keep my spot warm because I WILL see you later.

I thank my God in all my remembrance of you.

Philippians 1:3

Joye Lopes, Fiancee

Steve (little brother) I miss you so very much. but, I know you are in a wonderful place, And God is taking care of you. Your death has changed my life drastically. And sometimes it still doesn't seem real. I don't cry anymore because I remember what Timmy (your nephew) once said to me when he was little. Mommy don't cry because you will put out the angel's candle. But, Steve I know and all that knew you know you don't need a candle to shine. You are definitely a gift from God. And I thank God everyday that We had the time that We did together. I love you Steve.

Shelly (big sister)

Steve was a very good friend who we will all miss. Steve was always there to lend a helping hand to all that needed it. We went fishing several times and I know that he enjoyed the outdoor life such as fishing, horseback ridding and much more. Steve... You will always be missed by all.

Steve, I never anticipated the impact your death would have on my life. Now that God has shown us his will, albeit painful, we are all struggling to accept it. I know you are in a better place, but I miss your warm smile and that look you used to give me when you'd catch me speeding! As I prepare the paperwork for the benefits your children will receive, I think of you continuously and know that someday we'll meet again.

Julia L Sessa, Risk Manager
St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office, FL

Thanks for the great memories, the help you gave to the law enforcement officers, and for being my friend. you are missed but will never be forgotten ... until we meet again.

It's still hard to believe your gone. Your death was a tremendous loss to the Law Enforcement community. We realize you're in a better place now, but the void in our hearts can never be fixed. We're sure you're watching over your brothers and sisters in Law Enforcement and keeping us safe. Your memory lives on with all of us. You are surely missed.

Detective Raif Zenelovic
Ft. Pierce Police Department

Steve, I wish you were here to thank you again for the impact you had on my and my kids life. I met you when your first came to Road Patrol and I was a new dispatcher. I was lucky enough to be able to work the same shift with you for several years and got to know you off duty also. You were there to help me with my children when I was working. You checked in on them and even rough housed with the boys (remember breaking the couch), helped hang Xmas lights, brought food to the house for the kids after my cancer surgery because it was hard for me to get around, helped at Christmas time, because if it wasn't for my law enforcement family the kids would not have gotten many Christmas gifts, stayed on the phone with me teaching me how to make home made cookies, and you were the one I took one of my children to talk to about the dangers of drinking and hanging with the wrong crowd. Your talked helped, as I never had a problem again after that. I also had the pleasure of watching your little ones, Wesley and Michael. I know that you are in a better place, a place which I will meet up with you eventually again and in the meantime, I know you will still be watching out for my children from up above. I Miss You!!!!

Linda Garren
St. Lucie County Public Safety - 911 Dispatcher

Steve- Although our hearts feel empty, we know you are one of the "Angels Among Us". Our boys knew you as Deputy Steve; now they call you Angel Steve and they want to send you balloons in heaven since they never got to send them to the hospital. Watch for those balloons we'll be sending them real soon. We love you. We miss you. We will never forget you. God Bless you Steve.

Steve, I do not think words can describe the loss we are all feeling. I am blessed to have known you. I will never forget your smile and generous caring nature. And each time I see a motor cop with a radar gun it will always make me think of you shaking your finger at me with a smile on your face telling me to SLOW DOWN or you would tell Harry!! :>} Thank you for being you!! A true one of a kind treasure.

THIS IS ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS I HAVE EVER HAD TO TYPE. STEVE IF IT WAS NOT FOR YOU I WOULD HAVE NEVER LEARNED HOE TO WORK A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT, YOU WERE THE ONE THAT MADE IT SIMPLE FOR ALL OF YOUR TRAINIES TO UNDERSTAND. STEVE I MIGHT HAVE TURNED MY BADGE IN ON FEB. 18, 1997 AFTER THE ACCIDENT ON OLD DIXIE, IT WAS AN EXPERIENCE THAT I WILL NEVER FORGET AND THE TALK WITH YOU WAS ONE OF THE THINGS THAT GOT ME PAST IT. OUR HEARTS GO OUT TO YOUR FAMILY AND TO JOYE. WE LOVE YOU AND WILL MISS YOU WITH ALL OF OUR HEARTS.

Detective Lonny Evans
St. Lucie County Sheriff's Department

There are few men in this world that had the happiness and satisfaction with life and career that you had. I know that God has brought you home, but it still doesn't take the sorrow of your leaving this life. You will be missed by many people, but we know you are now in a better place. I also know that you will be watching over your brother officers and we all appreciate that. You made the ultimate sacrifice in our profession and you will always be remembered.

Captain Mario L. DeLudo
Martin County Sheriff's Office

I sincerely hope the rest of us can live up to the standards set by this officer, both on and off duty. He was a friend to many and admired by all.

Steve, I considered you my best friend. I will always have an empty hole in my heart now that you are no longer with us. I will miss you riding next to me as part of the Sheriff's Posse on your horse Dakota. I know that some day you will have him back so you cane once again sit tall in the saddle. Until that time comes, I am taking good care of him. Your friend "Termite".

Master Deputy Rick Stuhr

Our loss of you has created a painful, empty feeling in each one of us that knew you and loved you. You were truly a role model for us role models. You will always be missed, always be loved and never be forgotten.

Deputy Sheriff Jim Zealor
St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office

DEAR STEVE, YOU WERE MY FIRST CORPORAL AT THE S.O.
AND I LEARNED SO MUCH FROM YOU. YOU ALWAYS HAD A SMILE ON YOUR FACE THAT COULD LIGHT UP THE WORLD.
THERE IS NOT A DAY THAT DOESN'T GO BY THAT I DON'T THINK ABOUT YOU AND KNOW THAT YOU ARE WATCHING OVER ME AND THE REST OF YOUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN LAW ENFORCEMENT AND 9-1-1. THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES AT WORK THAT I KNOW THAT IF IT WEREN'T FOR YOU, I COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED. THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS BEING THERE FOR ME.
I MISS YOU AND WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU.

SGT.JUDY LEWIS

I have a friend who worked with deputy steven roberts of st. lucie, FL sheriff's department. she is afraid that people will forget the decency, humanity and sacrifice you made. i let her know that she should never worry about that as long as she never forgets. i never knew you but she did and now i will never forget you.

IT HAS BEEN FOUR YEARS SINCE YOU TOOK YOUR NEW ASSIGNMENT TO RIDE THE STREETS OF GOLD. YOU ARE STILL MISSED AND TEARS STILL FALL FROM THE EYES OF THE ONES THAT LOVED YOU. YOU ARE STILL REMEMBERED AT HOLIDAYS AND IN PRAYERS, AND WE KNOW THAT YOU ARE WATCHING OVER US, WE HEAR YOUR VOICE WHEN NO ONE IS AROUND, WE SEE YOU IN THE REVIEW MIRROR AND LOOK BACK AND YOU ARE GONE. THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU, STILL CARING AND STILL LOVING YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
