Reflections for Patrolman Brian A. Aselton

When I first met Brian Aselton he was still in high school and working after school and weekends with us at Meineke Muffler in Vernon. I remember that one of the guys that worked with us started calling him Buckwheat and although in no way was it fitting to him it stuck. Brian was a great guy , a hard worker and made our days there fun with the jokes and laughs that Rich, Jim,myself and Brian had together while we worked. He also loved his El Camino and worked on it whenever he could. Well then I left to go work for another Meineke owned by someone else and lost touch for a while until I ran into him one night at a club in Hartford and he told me that he had just become a police officer in East Hartford. Being the son of a police officer myself I remember shaking his hand and wishing him well and went on my way. The next time unfortunately was at Brian's wake with all of us Meineke guys together. Brian I just want to thank you for your service to East Hartford, our country and our friendship and want you to know I think of you often. R.I.P. friend and god bless

Another selfless Law Enforcement Officer killed in the line of duty, his actions saving another man's life. Its sad to read about how your watch ended. You saved one mans life and touched so many other lives in your 2 year tour. God bless you and your family. And thank you for your service. Rest in peace, sir. God bless.

Hello son. Here it is. Another birthday. Can it really be? Yes it is, and you are still sorely missed. You are constantly in our thoughts, but so proud of you. Jake and Olivia know all about "Uncle Brian," and they would have given Uncle Brian a run for his money! Tom and I will be up in CT next week and see them. Wish they could have known you and not just your memory. We are all well. Luv u so much. Mom and Tom

I remember watching the services on tv during my lunch break. I had just come from a State Police Exam. I opted not to go that route but am continually grateful to those who protect and serve as I have more than common knowledge of what they go through. Thank you so much for your services. I'm sure you are loved and missed by so many.

Well, son, here I am again, bearing my broken heart. Tomorrow is the 15th anniversary. We all miss you so much, but as you would expect of us, we are all doing well. Everyone still tells Brian stories, there is often a "Brian Aselton Scholarship" event in East Hartford, and we still miss you terribly. Rest in peace, my son. Luv u Mom and Tom

Hey Brian,
I remember riding dirt bikes back in the early 90s. I still laugh about the time I bit the glass in your driveway and it broke in my mouth. No idea why I did that. I just came across this website and looked you up. Rest in peace.

Happy birthday, son. I cannot believe all this time has gone by. You are still so sorely missed and loved. Tom and I went up to the 15h running of the motorcyle run. It was awesome. We rode with Jordy, and it gave a totally different look. I saw all those people along the way, the churches, the fire stations with their engines out in your honor. There were 500 bikes that rode in your honor...and I know you were the 501st watching all of them. Love u so much....Mom

To Brian's Family,

I have just finished reading all the tributes left for Brian over the years. I look at his beautiful smiling face and know that it is the smile and love reflected there that keeps you going. And that it is still unbelievable that you are "living" on this earth without him.

In September 2oo4, we lost our precious son in an accident. Carolyn read a posting to him from one of his best friends and took the time to write a letter to him. His mom gave me a copy of it and last week while going through some of Matthew's things I came across it again. Her words were and still are so full of understanding and comfort. We are all truly connected in our pain and loss, love and sacrifice. We will always need them and they are always with us. We were so blessed to have them.

May your memories be strong and comfort you until you are back in each others arms.

With love, respect, and honor.

Belated 40th birthday son. Sorry this is late but I spent the weekend in Maryland with your sister. DiDi and her husband joined us. There were many stories told....about your birth and "Denise and Denephew," you kids growing up, your antics and how much you are still missed. Everyone is fine, though there still is a hole in my heart that will never mend. I love you son. Mom

I was 8 years old when you left us. It's officers like you, that allow people like me want to pursue a career in Law Enforcement. RIP Ofc. Aselton, and keep an eye on MPO Lavery, and your other fellow officers who gave it their all. Thank you for your service.

Brian you are truly missed by many. Be comforted by the fact that anyone that knows you, knows how deep a loss it was to your family, friends and the City of East Hartford when you were taken from us. We all think of you often and I am sure I am not alone when I often think to myself about how fun or funny something would have been if you were involved.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 13th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. He was also your brother in green so I also bid you semper fi.

Time never dimishes respect, and your memory will always be honored and revered. I pray for the solace of all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. I hold your family in my heart's embrace today. To your mom Carol, I share your anguish in losing a beloved child which surely has to be life's greatest sorrow.

Rest In Peace
