You still are a part of my life every day. I talk about you often and miss our friendship. You continue to live on in my heart, and I will forever miss you. It's been a long day without you, my friend, and I'll tell you all about it when I see you again. I continue to live on and carry your memory and remember the courage you taught me. I miss you so much.......

Shawn, I had the privilege of seeing and spending some time with your brother Ryan recently after all these years. He even remembered me taking you guys to Clark Park way back during 1983, before I moved away! Ryan looks, talks and even his mannerisms remind me so much of your dad! I believe you would be proud of the man he has become, (not only raising his own child), but your brother Christopher's child as well! Rest in Peace my #2 hero, (only behind my Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ), until we meet again! Love Uncle Joey

I wish you could have known your namesake Shawn Bandy Mulka he’s 20 now and has know since he was a toddler that he was named after a hero!!! It’s really wonderful to read the kinds words from so many people how never even knew you! It lifts me up and gives me strength knowing that Shawn is not, and never will be, forgotten! We spent a lot of time together in scout 104. I left for greener pastures, and ran into you at number 10 while there on a prisoner pick up right before you transferred to the east side. Just thinking about you today, and reflecting. My academy classmates Katie Ryan and Richard Scalf are there with you. None of you shall ever be forgotten. Rest easy my brothers and sister in arms, until we meet again.

Days seem like weeks and years pass like days. Your family of DPD officers that worked at your side will never forget your sacrifice. God be with you and your family. It is my belief your in a better place and we will meet again someday. Our prayers continue. Take care of Katie too please. We had an awesome team of officers. Will never forget the journey.

I did not know you, but I was thinking about you today. I didn't begin my career until almost 15 years after your passing, but people from the Ninth Precinct and all over our department still talk about you. Thank you for what you did that night.

I often think about Shawn's family and fellow officers and hope they are all doing well. I was involved in locating Langford and Moore in Erie, Pa after the shooting. Our thoughts and prayer go out to everyone involved on this 20th anniversary.

20 years have gone by and I think of you all the time. Everything you’ve missed, good and bad. My life turned out good despite the horrible tragedy of our short time together and I finally have a beautiful baby girl. You are always loved, and respected. You were my hero and I promise to make sure you are never forgotten.
