Reflections for Deputy Constable Micheal Ray Eakin, III

Today, on your birthday, a precious freckle faced little girl, all grown up now, became a wife! You would be so proud of all that she has accomplished in life and would most likely approve of the young man she chose to marry.
We all miss you so much. It never makes any sense that you aren't here. You deserve to be here and be a part of all these wonderful moments with the people you loved! I still try to make something positive of my memories of you, but I miss you, your smile, your pranks, your hugs, and the love we all shared in this family!

I was working at the tattoo shop down the road when I met officer Mike. He was a good man with a good heart. He would stop in and we would talk and laugh. He loved his job and spoke of his family often. It was a horrible act and still sits with me all these years later. You know you were a great man and a good cop when you left such an impression on so many people. We may not have known each other long, but you are missed. Till we meet again my friend.

Texas law enforcement for 9 years, i have had the thought that GETTING A LITTLE INJECTION is to easy for these COP KILLERS, so LOCK THEM UP UNTIL THEY DIE, UNDER control of the very same kind of people that could have helped them to be a HUMAN, SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST BORN BAD!!!

Thinking of you today as everyday... These thoughts bring smiles as well as tears. So much life has happened since you were taken from us...so many things that you should have been a part of... We all miss you so much as each new event happens in our family. Spread those angel wings and watch over those who can't or don't watch after themselves. We love you and all the memories that we made together as a family. We never know when we will see you again... But I know Heaven awaits!!!
Love, Mom

I made this scene the night it happened, I remember thinking how does one tell a mother or father that their son who was fighting the good fight was taken by a heartless coward such as your killer. I knew you uncle who worked northeast in HPD, I also remember your mom from Grantham Middle school. I didn't know all of this while out on the scene, but days and weeks later it all came about. I grew up in that side of town, and I often pass the spot where it all happened, I always reflect to your sacrifice, and your families loss. I pray your family has found peace and happiness, and I know GOD has his arms around you in heaven. RIP brother.

Micheal,
It's hard to even know where to start. It's been almost 17 years since you gained wings and went to be with the Lord. You are in my thoughts each day and are talked about so often by this family, friends and sometimes strangers. This past week has been so hard after hearing about Sheriff Deputy Goforth's murder. It has weighed on me so heavily thinking back to your death. I know you welcomed him to heaven with open arms and now have another blue angel to keep you company. Michelle and Ryan's little one is 4 years old and she brings so much joy to mom and dad!!!! I know you see it all but I still wish I could see you smile and laugh! It's hard to believe you've been gone from this earth for so long. I'm 30 years old and this is my 7th year to teach. I've really learned so much about kids and can totally understand how mom came to love you so much!!!So thankful that she was your teacher at Grantham Middle School and that she brought you home to us so that you could be part of our family!!!! I miss you so but I feel blessed to have had you in my life for time we had you here. Keep looking over your fellow officers. I'm looking forward to the day that we meet again. Rest easy....

Mike,
I really enjoyed our time in the Academy. The world lost a "complete" Peace Officer when you passed. We are all proud of you and we salute you. RIP my friend.

Mike was such a good man, he loved his mother very much. We had talked an hour before this happened at the gas pumps. He talked about his parents and how much they had helped him. You are right to be proud Mrs Johnson

Dear Son, as the anniversary of your death approaches, I remember all the good times we had, I remember that crooked mischievous smile that always was there. The time passes on, but the heartheache is still fresh as the day you died. My head tells me your in a better place, but my heart says otherwise. I know one day wewill be together again and my heart will rejoice, so until then just know that you are missed and loved by many. Ray you will never ever be forgotten. I love you Son. your mother Barbara Johnson

Mike,
I can't tell you the times that you have entered conversation of mine. It was such an awesome day when on the tailgate of my truck working the Dome you and had that conversation that led to you dedicating your life to Christ, it was then that I gave you the pin from Peace Officers for Christ that you proudly wore, even the morning you went to be with Christ.
We will see each other again!

Mike,
Your sacrifice has not been in vain. I remember proudly serving with you as a deputy at Montgomery County Pct. 1. I also remember the incredible sadness that we all felt when we heard the news. The pain of a losing a fine officer such as yourself never goes away. " Blessed are the peacekeepers, for they will inhereit the earth". "Nemo Me Impune Lacessit".

Each day is one more opportunity to use your name, to pass on your memory to someone else, to remind others that we can only survive our grief by doing something in your name to make you proud of your friends and family. You have two very good friends struggling to make their communities better places everyday. Thank God they both have stayed close! You are the missing piece of that friendship. What would you be doing if you were here today? Just know that you are always in our hearts, thoughts, and conversations. Watch over your buddies right now, as they both have major things happening. I know you would be their "back up", so we keep up with them and help as often as we can. We all love you and miss you so very much!
