Reflections for Patrolman Keith Ashley Turner

Well Keith the rotten excuse of a human that shot you has given up all appeals and has asked for an execution date to be set. Soon he will have to face the ultimate punishment before God. You are never far from my mind every time I don the blue and I always wear a reminder of what happened that night to let me know that we are not always safe but that there is always those before us looking down to tap us on the shoulder when things aren't right,to keep us safe when nothing else will.

I was reading about your death due to the recent loss of 3 Birmingham Officers and realized that on that day in 1998 we came through Alabama on our way to pick up a prisoner in Tennessee and bring him back to Texas I remember the traffic and then hearing of your fate on the fm station we were listening to as the 6th anniversary of your passing comes I pray that your Family has found peace and that the people of Moody Alabama never forget your service

I just can't beliee that you are gone. You were my best friend and I will never forget the times we had together. I will cherish each and every one of them. You helped me through relationships that I never thought I could make it through, you always made me smile, even through my tears. As hard as it may seem, I still smile when I think of you. You have a beautiful daughter who looks just like you! You were always so proud of her! I'm glad I had the honor to be your best friend for over 10 years!
Love always,
Your Brown Eyed Girl

I noticed that Keith's badge number was not displayed on his memorial page. His badge number is 273 and we have retired his number from service in his memory.

Keith there's not a day that goes by that we don't think about you and remember the tremendous sacrifice that you made for us. Rest in peace brother.

JEFFER CO S/O ALABAMA

I DID NOT PERSONALLY KNOW OFFICER TURNER BUT, I HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT FATAL DAY EVER SINCE IT HAPPENED. IN 1998 I WAS STILL WORKING FOR THE ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS. I REMEMBER THINKING TO MYSELF ABOUT THE THOUGHTS THAT MUST HAVE PASSED THROUGH HIS MIND. I REMEMBER THINKING TO MYSELF..........HE DID NOT GIVE HIS LIFE FOR ANYONE OR ANYTHING. HIS LIFE WAS TAKEN. TAKEN FROM A COWARD THAT WAS AFRAID TO FACE THE COURTS OF MISSISSIPPI. HE WILL NOW FACE "YELLOW MAMA" OF ALABAMA(THE ELECTRIC CHAIR). I PRAY THE ENTIRE TIME THAT I'M PUTTING ON MY UNIFORM FOR DUTY AS A POLICE OFFICER. I PRAY FOR COURAGE AND SAFEKEEPING FOR MYSELF AND MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS. I THANK OUR LORD FOR OUR BROTHERS LIKE OFFICER KEITH TURNER THAT FACE FEAR AND REFUSE TO BAT AN EYE. WHO STAND UNTIL JUSTICE PREVAILS AND OUR STREETS ARE SAFE. BROTHER TURNER ....GO REST ON THAT MOUNTAIN YOUR 10-42.
