Hard think its been almost 24 years since you left us. I still remember the night like it was yesterday. I have shared the story few times over the years, but what can’t really be described is the great person you were to everyone. My time working with you was short but you taught everyone around you so much. You are missed still and we honor you everyday doing the job you loved so much . I will always remember 843.02 my friend , until we meet again.

As I near retirement from my law enforcement career, I remember great people that helped me along the way. You definitely were one of them Roosevelt. You were taken much too early, but your impact on my career has been lasting. You trained me as a rookie deputy and gave me so much advice that I followed throughout my career. I wish I could thank you personally for having such a positive impact on me. You were one of the BEST.

Missing You

Published on May 2011

I sit alone now in the darkness of despair.
I cry my silent tears,
My heart is broken into a million tiny pieces.
The silence is deafening to my ears.
The darkness frightens me,
The shadows climb the wall.
I hear footsteps walking,
Passing through the hall.
The loneliness surrounds me,
It takes my breath away,
This is the pattern of my life,
Since that awful, dreadful day.
Without a clue
Without a hint
Of what was yet to be,
God called you home
To be with him
And took you away from me.
I walk, I talk. I carry on
When the sun pokes out its head
But when darkness falls
And evening comes
I cannot go to bed.
For this is when I miss you most of all
When I curl into a little ball
And cry those silent tears.
Watching the shadows,
And missing you.

Hello My Love,

I missed your Birthday and for that I am sorry. That week was a sad one for me, but I was thinking of you no doubt. I wanted to leave this beautiful reflection, letting you know that no matter how much time has passed, I will always miss you and love you forever!

The moment that you left me, my heart was split in two; one side filled was filled with memories, the other side died with you. I often lay awake at night when the world is fast asleep, and take a walk down memory lane with tears upon my cheek. Remembering you is easy, I do it every day; but missing you is a heartache that never goes away. I hold you tightly within my heart and there you will remain, you see life has gone on without you, but will never be the same.

I love you Sgt. Roosevelt Walker, Jr. Continue to Rest in Heaven.

The Sheriffs of Florida and their deputies will never forget the sacrifice you and your family made to uphold our laws and protect society.

Your name has been inscribed on the Florida Sheriffs and the National Law Enforcement Memorial and in our hearts. May you forever rest in peace.

A scripture inscribed on the Florida Sheriffs Law Enforcement Memorial:

"Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called the children

I feel a warmth around me
like your presence is so near,
And I close my eyes to visualize
your face when you were here,
I endure the times we spent together
and they are locked inside my heart,
For as long as I have those memories
we will never be apart,
Even though we cannot speak anymore
my voice is always there,
Because every night before I sleep
I have you in my prayer.

My Brother Roosevelt, you cross my mind often!! I remember where I was when I got the call that evening. Your light still shines with me all the time!! You were there when I was commissioned as an Army Officer and there when I graduated college. Being in the lodge has been and never was the same without you. As I see David becoming Chief of Police, I think of you. I remember you guys talking about your dreams of being Sheriff & Chief. Rest well my Brother!! I just wanted you to know I still love ya!!

A thousand times I needed you
A thousand times I cried
If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.
A heart of gold stopped beating 16 years ago
And two twinkling eyes closed to rest
God broke my heart May 22, 1998, to prove he only took the best
Never a day goes by that you are not in my heart and my soul.
I miss you dearly Dad and will always treasure the years we had.

I will Love You Always,

May You Always Walk In Sunshine
May you always walk in sunshine
and God’s around you flow,
for the happiness you gave us,
no one will ever know.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
but you did not go alone,
a part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.
A million times we needed you,
a million times we’ve cried.
If love could only have saved you,
you never would have died.
The Lord be with you and
may you rest in peace.

Love Forever!

If Tears Could Build A Stairwell
If tears could build a stairwell
and memories were a lane,
I would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you home again.
No farewell words were spoken,
no time to say good-bye...
You were gone before I knew it,
and only God knows why.
My heart still aches in sadness
and secret tears still flow,
What it means to lose you
no one will ever know.

I will always Love You!

Hi Ro,

Another year is upon us and I truly miss you.

I Said A Prayer For You
I said a prayer for you today
and know God must have heard;
I felt the answer in my heart
Although He spoke not a word.

I didn't ask for wealth or fame
I knew you wouldn't mind;
I asked for priceless treasures rare
Of a more lasting kind.

I prayed that He'd be near to you
Now that you've gone away;
To grant you all of His blessings
And His light to show your way.

I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small;
But that you'd know His loving care
I prayed for most of all.

I will always Love You!
