Sergeant Morgan,

I was working in Hancock County the day of your incident. I will never forget when I learned of the incident. The incident saddened the atmosphere around all Law Enforcement that day. I am very of proud of the Officer who ended the situatuion that day. I pray for your family. Your oldest son Jacob mentions he wants to pursue a career in law enforcement. I wish him the best. I hope to meet him and speak with him. My father was killed in the line of duty in 1987, and I also pursued a career in law enforcement. Thank you for your service. I salute you. God Bless you.

Seven years is how long its been now and there has not been a day yet that has gone by that I have not thought about my father. As I finish my college education i will also be entering into the field of Law Enforcement. I pray to god everyday that I may someday be not also as good an officer as my father but also a man.

I love and miss you so much,
Jacob Morgan

Steve and I went to the academy together and became friends. Even though we were at the end of the line most of the time we continued with our dreams until the day God called you home. Rest in peace Steve, until we meet again.

In the blink of an eye for the way that he tried, he paid the ultimate price.... Along with all others whom we honor each spring with words that we speak and the songs that we sing. Lies the question we all ask, which no one can say.....This man gave his all....Did I come close today?

God bless and keep the Morgan Family....

Steve I was there on that tragic day with you and Jim. I was lucky that it wasnt me but I live with the horror of it in my dreams. You are a hero and I know God is with You. May he continue to comfort your family as I know it is hard.

I would like to thank all the people who left messages on this website. Even though he has been gone for 6 years theres not a day that goes that i don't think about my father, he was such a great person, and he died doing what he loved to do.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).

We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.

These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

I miss you so much. We had some good times in the academy and I wish we could still talk about those good times. You and your family will always be in my thoughts and I will never forget you. When I teach an officer survival course I always talk about this incident and how hard it is to see a police officer, much more a friend, pass away, I never want to go through that again. You died doing what you loved and to me you are a true hero.

Love,
Your friend, David Dean.
