Reflections for Detective Sean Gerald Carrington

I was just reading through the law enforcment officers we lost over the years. I came across you and found that I knew of you from meeting your daughter and fiancee. Years ago she and my daughter went to the same dance school. She is beautiful and growing up to be a wonderful young lady. May you forever rest in peace.

Hi Sean,
I can't believe it has been 16 years since you've been gone. You were put on this earth for just a short time but you touched so many people with your kindness, bubbling personality, sense of humor and your smile. There is not a day that you've not crossed my mind and wondering what you would have been doing right now. I wish you would have gotten that opportunity to see your daughter grow up. I know how much you loved her. I'm sure you are looking down on her now to see what a beautiful young lady she has grown up to be. I miss you very much. Rest in peace my friend.

Although it's been16 years on January 19, it still seems like yesterday Sean. I can still see your face when you came down to The Bronx Property Clerks Office. You were a great guy, and a truly decorated Detective. I thank you over and over for your dedication to NYPD. You will never be forgotten and I like many other retired NYPD officers, I will forever honor you. May God bless your beautiful daughter and she will continue to make her dad, mom, grandma and all of her family very proud. Continue to rest in peace Sean, and God Bless You.

Tomorrow I will be making making my journey to Mt. Hope Cemetery for my son, Detective Sean Carrington. With each step I take to the cemetery memories flood my mind. The best memories was his laughter & his smile. That smile that put much joy in my heart & making me proud that he was my son... RIP!!!

Excerpt from Niya's Sweet 16 Birthday party...This last candle is dedicated to my father. I lost you at the age of 18 months and now its been 14 yrs with you gone. They say it hurts less to lose someone you hardly have memories with but in all honesty it hurts more to think about memories you never had. you are both mine and our family hero. You are loved by so many and forgotten by none.. Everyday I think about you and everyday I know your watching over me - even though I was too young to speak you never heard me say I love you dad but just know one day Ill be face to face with you again to finally say the words I always wanted to tell you. I love you daddy. I am just truly blessed, proud and honored to say I am the daughter of Detective Sean G. Carrington a hero who will never be forgotten .I love you dad. So can I have my grandma Jackye and my mom come up to help me light this candle.

As an expectant mother in 1998 I was sadden by the news of detective Carrington's death. I have thought about his daughter and her mother for the past 13 years. I remember vividly as if it was yesterday when I watched the news and heard how he gave his life trying to make our streets safer for his child as well as mine. I have kept his family in my prayers all these years, I cannot begin to imagine what you have gone thru but know that you are not alone. I will continue to pray for you, every day I looked at my son I remember officer Carrington because of his sacrifice so my son can grow up in a drug free environment. I know it may sound strange I don't know you but I love you God Bless.

11 years and yet it still feels like it just happened...
You touched so many people in so many good ways - words can not express how much you are truly missed. They say that the friends you make in college are the friends you'll have for a lifetime. Our time (at John Jay and thereafter) was too short! I miss our conversations that always turned into a debate that always ended with one of us quoting your Moms "don't get cute, 'cause we can roll up in here, my man!"

Sean,

Just wanted to stop by on this MLK Holiday and let you know that I often have you in my thoughts. 11 years ago today, on this very Holiday, you were taken from us. Time heals the pain of our loss, but you will always be remembered in our hearts. I have SO many vivid memories of times we shared. The six Long months in the academy. Sitting in traffic coming back from the Jones beach Greekfest. You stopping by BBQ's for the Saturday comedy night. And last but not least, you missing every three pointer you took at Spellman High School on thursday nights. And I still kept passing you the ball. I could go on and on. I miss you my brother, and you will Never be Forgotten. I just let my daughter Mya read some reflections that have been left for you. She's only 9 and wasn't around when you were taken from us, but I wanted her to see how much you were loved.
Continue to watch over us. Until we meet again.
