Im just a civillian, I bumped into this video and ... Well im kind of scarred for life.

I feel so bad for the officer, Just doing his job and then he got shot. How terrible .. Im serious too.

I hope he rests in peace. He is a hero in my eyes. I dont care what anyone else says. Its so sad the way he died ..

Kyle,

I came across this video just now and I can still hear your screams. While watching it, I got more teary eyed than I have been in years and by the end, I threw up. My goal is to be a state trooper for New York State, and seeing this nightmare unfold, makes me want it even more. I was only 10 when you were killed but now I'm 23 and just knowing that you were ONLY 22 makes me realize how fortunate I am that I'm still alive. Your family has a lot of courage to allow your video to be public, and despite a lot of the negative comments aimed at you, I posted a memorial for you on my facebook so that people can see how dangerous police work really is. My prayers go out to you and your entire community.

Hey there.

My name's Fran, and I'm from Scotland. I came across this video purely by chance and I have to say, I was stunned and horrified by what I saw. I really didn't expect it to get as bad as it did. I was in a situation once where I had to beg some people not to kill me, and they would have done if not for the timely arrival of a passerby in a car, who pulled me in and took me to the hospital. Listening to Kyle begging for mercy reminded me of myself, and reminded me of the sheer brutality of some people in this world. When I saw that murderer considering his move, I couldn't see into his eyes, but no doubt there was something missing there, something that was missing in the people who tried to kill me, too.

There's nothing more terrifying than a lack of mercy. You have to be brave and face whatever comes. It sounds easy to say, but if all of the good guys give up, the world would be filled with unremitting horror every second of every day. Thank God for good people.

I'm not sure what happened to the murderer after he was caught, but I hope - if he's still alive - that he feels guilt for what he did. I hope that he realises that he killed another human being for nothing, and that, friends, is the worst crime a person can commit.

RIP man, I would have helped you if I could.

This video is a shocking reminder on how things can take a turn for the worse in a blink of the eye. I have been shown this video at annual use of force recertification classes and every time it gives me chills. I thank Deputy Dinkheller for his sacrifice and I wish his wife and children well. To his colleagues keep up the good work and stay safe!!

I watched the dashcam video of this brave officer's fight for survival. It is always a tragedy when one of our brothers or sisters fall in this fight we all face daily. We must honor our brother for his bravery and selflessness. We must never forget that the war is real and the stakes are high. As police Officers we are the Sheepdog's of the flock, and as long as there are wolves amongst us, we must also fight on. May God bless and keep the family and friends of this brave man. And until we all meet in Heaven.....Well done Kyle, your bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace Brother!

Off Dinkheller,
I have known about this site for a while now, but just a few days ago I saw something that changed my life forever and it was that dash cam from your final stop...... I have changed the way I approach a vehicle or for that matter even a subject on foot. You have made me open my eyes to what kind of people are really out there. I wanna pay my respects to you and your family and I always think about you now while I'm on a stop, where I could go, what I could do, what I need to do to make it back to my family at the end of my shift..... God Bless and God Speed Brother.... U are TRULY A HERO!

"Pray for the Men in Blue"

It takes a very special person to wear the blue.
Most people do not understand what we do
We made a commitment to protect and serve.
We work hard to provide the safety you deserve.

No normal shifts, not nine to five.
We work 24/7 to keep you alive.
Holidays and weekends don’t mean a thing.
We work night and day, just give us a ring.

Our loved ones and children pray every night.
That we will return at the break of daylight.
We carry guns and wear vests to help us get through.
You couldn’t imagine some of the things we must do.

We see accidents and blood and small children crying.
We also see death and it’s not just old people dying.
Abusive spouses and parents that don’t seem to care.
These are just a few of the things, to make you aware.

Drug dealers and drunks are a regular sight.
We go to the bars for fight after fight.
Responding to calls day after day.
Not allowing our personal lives to get in the way.

You complain all the time when you see us on a break.
We just drive around in cars and oh, the money we make.
Stop for a second and try to assess
Who’s always there to clean up the mess.

We do all we can to help and provide.
To make you feel safe and secure inside.
Please remember all of the things that we must do.
And next time you pray, include the men in blue.

Like many others I watched this just minutes ago by accident. I had to find out who you were. The pure terror you must of had in those last few moments alone. I am so sorry for your family. But your children will grow up knowing there father was a hero. I have not cried for who knows how long but as I write this I cant help but get teary eye'd. Thank you for serving our community for protecting us for doing what most cannot for waking up every day being brave. God bless you.

Now I will say a prayer for you and your family and only hope to get some sleep tonight.

I am so sickened by the video of your murder. I cannot even imagine the agony your loved ones who have viewed this felt. I did not know what I was going to see when I viewed it. If it serves a training purpose, it is very sobering, but I hate that it is on the internet accessible to everyone. My son was also fatally shot, but there was no video or audio recording of his murder. I thought it was agonizing for me to listen to the 911 dispatches and cannot comprehend how torturous this must have been for Kyle's loved ones. I hold all of you in my heart's embrace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the supreme sacrifice Kyle and his family made on January 12, 1988.

I first saw the dashcam video of Deputy Dinkheller's murder while attending the Police Accadamy in 2004. After the video ended the entire class sat silent, some with tears. It was very sobering. I have never forgotten Deputy Dinkheller, a true, brave hero.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and Department.

Dear Kyle,
I just witnessed what happened to you because of some dumb french tv show. I was shocked that your sacrifice had been used for sick entertainment purposes. I needed to know who you were and I'm glad to see that so many people still think about you. I'm relieved that your courage and humanity make sense. I'll never forget you.
