Officer VanderJagt,
There have been so many times over so many years that I have thought of you and your family's courage. I remember it like it was yesterday..how your wife was a kindergarten teacher and you had a little girl at home... it was so tragic and unfair.
I want you to know that you and your family will never be forgotten or the sacrafice that was made to keep the rest of us safe. Thank you and may God pour out His blessings on you and your family. You will all forever be in my prayers.

Silently reflecting the 13 years it has been since that terrible day. A lot has changed in the world since then. The one thing that hasn't changed is the pain shared by those of us who knew you. Keep watch over us until we can meet again.

Dear Bruce:
You are always in our hearts. Your little girl is learning to drive now and she needs her guardian angel more than ever. Please keep your watch over her.

With our love,
Anna & Hayley

It's difficult to believe it has been 13 years since that fateful day. Though time has tempered some of the pain, you are still missed deeply. We love you Bruce.

Bruce,
I am a friend of a close friend of yours.... He has taught me so much in the few short years of knowing him, he is a great officer, an awesome husband and father, and he inspires me to live my life true, to keep my principles, and most important to never forget who I am. I believe you taught him alot of this on the streets as you worked together, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such a friend to him. I know that one day as I enter the gates of heaven I will be able to shake your hand and say thank you

Anna and Hayley,

My family and I met you both on the sky tram in Albuquerque Sky Tram many years ago. I hope you two are doing good. Both of you are still in our prayers.

Officer VanderJagt - Sounds like you were a hero, Sir. Your courage is an example to us all. Four Fridays ago, on a very rainy morning, I stood in the State Assembly chambers when you name was one of almost 250 read off during a motion regarding this month's Peace Officer Memorial Week - you are not forgotten.

Thank you for your service to the people of the City of Denver and the State of Colorado. May God grant you eternal rest and may His perpetual light shine upon you.
