Paul.
I know your in heaven and one day we will be together again. I miss you and all the fun times we had when we were kids. It still feels like yesterday. Now , I am 55 this year and I purchased a motorcycle and every time I get a chance to ride in a group, I will ride in honor of remembering you . You are a hero and will never be forgotten.
You are what legends are about. Love you bro. Forever in my heart but never forgotten..................

I remember you from the academy as a quiet gentle strong man. It was after your murder that I realized that this could happen to any of us out there. RIP.... You'll never be forgotten

I knew Paul and Chris for a long time. Paul would try to make sure our neighborhood was SAFE. We need more police officers to do that very thing. He was a good person and a great friend. Right after this happened we moved to Alabama in a small community so we did not have to worry about gangs and drugs. Whats sad is even today 6/17/2015 Southbend has not changed. The police are fighting the same battles as they did when Paul was alive. This needs to change.

I grew up with Paul. Then we went our different ways. I came back around and only a few months later to find some snot nose kid shot Paul. Now, 15 yrs later after his death, i have this big empty hole in my life. Paul really cared for people, cumunnity and his family and kids. He had a big heart and always did what was right. I can't ever remember him doing anything wrong, except when we were kids.......just being kids. I LOVE YOU PAUL, AND I ALWAYS WILL. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART.

Paul has always been a good friend to me and always had my back. Especially since I was a single parent at the time. He kept a eye out for my children, kept me inform about areas that my sons should stay away from. Paul has been missed terribly. If you haven't known Paul then you miss out on a very good person....R.I.P my dear friend!!!!!

Paul was my ILEA classmate. I remember how kind he was to everyone. He was with St. Joe Co. Sheriff then. He seemed like such an honest and stand up guy that was willing to help anyone. I've since left LE, but I will always remember Paul Deguch as a leader and a great guy! It's a shame he was taken from his family, City at such a young age. RIP, Brother!

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. I am privileged to pay tribute to you. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 16th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know that both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace. Rest In Peace.

While checking in on ODMP I searched your name. Your picture popped up and it was like someone smacked me in the face. I still can't believe this happened to you. You are the only fallen officer I knew personally. We went to ILEA together. I remember the morning I woke up and saw your face on the news. I had already moved on from LE, but as you know you can quit being a cop on the outside but you are always a cop on the inside. In closing, I just want to say that I have nothing but fond memories of you at the academy. You were a gentle soft spoken giant. Indiana lost a great man and LEO when you passed. Rest my friend! You are not forgotten, brother LEO...

Paul,
The only time I remember seeing you was directing traffic at a crash at Michigan St. and Angela St. I remember how fit you looked and thinking to my self that if I ever needed a policeman to help me THAT is the kind of officer I wanted showing up. You will never be forgotten around the department and I still hear your name spoken often. RIP.

Paul, I want to thank you for protecting me while I also was on duty with our department and for protecting my family and friends while I was both, on and off duty.
thirteen years have nearly passed and your dedication to duty and your physical fitness will never be forgotten. I am sure that your service to out department had much to do with me being able to serve until 2002 and completing 42+ years of service. In the short time you were alive and with us you conducted yourself in a manner to be proud of. Thank you

Paul,
Today you came to mind and I wanted to reflect upon you and the boy I knew so many years ago. Walking home from school with your sister, my closest friend, you would follow behind us, making jokes, laughing out loud and making me smile. You always had a happy spirit. I remember that. I remember you playing the saxophone and thinking how beautiful it was to listen to you. I believe you had the music inside and it is my prayer that it lives on today. Your memory certainly does. Love and Light.
