To Officer Weekes and his loved ones:

On this the ninth anniversary of your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today.

My heart goes out to your family. You’re in our thoughts and our prayers.

Officer Weekes, you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.

This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.

Rest in Peace, Officer Weekes.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service he gave to his community and the citizens of Tennessee, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on March 7,1997.

Danny, I went with Jonathan and Daniel to Washington, DC, for National Police Week and you would be so proud of them.
They are very proud of you and they and us miss you. May you serve God well as you are now in a better place.

Patrolman R. G. Skelton
Memphis Police Department, TN

Daniel Weekes was my ward partner about one week prior to his death and also the night of his death. I remember the week prior to his accident we pulled our squad cars next to each other and we were talking about life in general. I remember us telling each other how life goes by so quickly; his life also turned out to be too short. The night of his accident his partner in the squad car called for help after the accident and I responded, the weather was horrible. I watched as Daniel closed his eyes for the last time. A couple of days later Daniel left us. Daniel was a devoted Police Officer who died for a city he served well. Almost four and a half years after his death and it seems just like yesterday we were pulled up next to each other talking about life. Daniel is sorely missed, may God Bless him and his family.
