Sir,
Thank you for your service and sacrifice. Your Son, Rex White was one of my mentors when I went to U of H-D Police Academy. I was in class III and was the class sergeant. Mr. White showed great leadership and was an excellent instructor. Thanks to the whole family of Officers and former Officers. God bless you all and keep your close.

Granddad,
You are missed and loved very much. I wish I could have met you and I know Dad carries you in his heart. When I was born, Dad used your initials H. A. to give me the name Heather Angela. When I made the choice to become a police officer, it was with you and Dad in mind. My name plate on patrol was inscribed H. A. White. I wish you could see the kind of man your son became. My older brother, Rick and I are police officers, carrying on our family's tradition of Texas Law Enforcement. I have a son and two daughters now. My son, Connor, is Dad's constant companion. Connor wants to be a Marine when he grows up, like you and Dad were.

I love you, see you soon.

I knew you and rode with you, many times out of El Paso on weekends. Left there and went to the Dallas area. When I heard of the happenings, and your demise, I left to attend your ceremoniew, toward Wichita Falls. Made it over halfway but the roads, frozen were so bad, had to turn back. Even the 18 wheelers stopped before myself. Didn't make it then podnah, but you've been with me, ALL THE WAY!!!!!

I never knew you but at times feel like I did. I was instructed by your son at UofH Downtown class #165. The whole class listened to stories of Rex helping you put air conditioning into patrol cars and of how things used to be. Be proud of you son, he has been an inspiration to myself and countless officers.

I’m not part of your family--- YET--- recently, one of your grandsons graced me with the humbling question to become his wife and invited me to become part of your fine family ( I said yes of course).

I only wish, wish so very much, that if I could give anything to my dear Rick… it would be you at our wedding (along with my mom who passed away right before I meet him). I can’t make this happen… I know… however, I do know that you (and my mom) will be looking down on us that day and smiling ear to ear! Thank you for you, your son, your grandson and all your current and future great-grandchildren! Your good heart continues to help people…in a way you helped to rescue me from the darkest cloud I’d seen by creating your son so he could have my fiancée and soul-mate Rick. I am sure the story will not stop there.

I WANTED TO ALSO TELL YOU THAT I HAVE A SON, LEE AUSTIN WHITE ( L.A.W. ), AND A DAUGHTER, SHELBY NICOLE WHITE ( S.N.W. ) AND THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN SHOWN YOUR PICTURE IN THE D.P.S. MEMORIAL BOOK. God bless you and please know that your legacy of honesty and integrity in law enforcement lives on. Your son is an awesome man that has trained thousands of the finest police cadets and officers in the state. I hope you look down from heaven and continue to be the special guardian angel that watches over your grandson and granddaughter (who bears your same initals), who both chose to follow their Dad's footsteps and yours in their careers of law enforcement. They serve Texas proudly.

I DID NOT KNOW YOU, BUT HUNDREDS OF HARRIS COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS CAME TO KNOW YOU FROM YOUR SON. YOUR SON CAME TO BE A GOOD POLICE OFFICER IN HIS OWN RIGHT AFTER YOU WERE TAKEN. HE THEN CHOSE TO TEACH IN THE ACADEMY, PASSING ON HIS KNOWLEDGE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT TO FUTURE OFFICERS AND DEPUTIES. I BENEFITED FROM HIS EXPERIENCE AS A CADET IN ONE OF HIS CLASSES. YOUR LEGACY LIVES ON, IN YOUR SON AND EACH OF HIS CADETS. REST IN PEACE.
