You are the father that I heard about, but do not remember. I wish that I had been able to remember and know you because the stories that I have been told make me proud but also sad that I had to grow up without you. You lost your life saving others. Our lives were changed forever that day in October when you died. My mother often went to your grave site and sat on the foot stone to 'talk to you'. She lived without the husband that she loved dearly, and I grew up without a father. She is now buried by your side. Your loving daughter, Barbara

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 70th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace
