May our Heavenly Father bless and keep my first cousin Larry's family, his sons, and his grand-children in His tender, loving care!

Larry was one of five or so CPD police-officers in our Rourke/Vincent family. As the youngest officer in our family, he made the older ones proud. He made all of our family proud of him, in spite of some of his funny pranks when growing-up! May each of his sons, and their families, know that your dad was a wonderful, fun-loving person. As the oldest of his cousins, I watched him grow-up. I pray that his sons will turn to our Heavenly Father for comfort and wisdom as they each become the spiritual leader in their own families! God Bless!!!

25 years have passed and yet its like you left us yesterday. I remember that night and the awful phone call and then all the news coverage. You were a hero to your family before you left us and remain a true hero 25 years later. I look at your picture and I can still remember what your voice sounded like and your laugh that was by far the best laugh ever. I hope were ever you are you are keeping everyone laughing and know that one day soon we will meet again. Thank you for the sacrifice you made to keep us safe. I hope we never let you down for that would be the true crime. My Love and Respect ALWAYS!

The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Larry was the short order cook, I washed the dishes, TALLY HO restaurant Ford City mall a very long time ago. Hard work low pay but a ton of fun. Ran into Larry later on the JOB still hard work low pay. Nonetheless, Larry was always positive, outgoing, a really good guy that had the attributes that every officer should have; BRAVERY, DEDICATION, INTEGRITY, HONOR. Always missed never forgotten from an old friend.

Hi,

I know most of you don't know me, but my husband John is a cousin to the boys. I would like to say that you have three wonderful boys. They are some of the most loving people I have ever known. They are funny, intelligent and affectionate. My girls love to play with them.

I just attended Jason's wedding and it was wonderful. There was so much laughter and love, it was amazing. I know they were all thinking of you...you were there, people could feel it.

I look at your picture and I can see all three of them. I am sure you are as proud of them, as they are of you...

I just wanted to say something, especially after being at the wedding.....

There isn't a day that goes by that your not in my thoughts. I remember the day you were taken from us and it is just as painful.. You were a sweet and gentle uncle and a man that was full of love for his family. You left this world to soon and just know that your sons are as wonderful as you. I know that one day we will all be together again and I hope you greet us with open arms. I am and have always been proud to be your niece. I love you always.
