Forty years ago today we were sworn in to the PD.
Time flies.

I remember when Detective Mora & Rivera were killed in January 2022, Mayor Adams mentioned Transit Officer Robert Venable in his news conference at the hospital. I knew of the story from watching a short news clip about it in the "75". Back in 2016, ODMP did not have my many ID Card Pictures of many LODD cops from the 1970's & 1980's even 1990's so I made sure that their pictures were uploaded from magazine and newspaper articles.

I am glad Officer Venable Name has a picture associated with it so that that his family & friends can remember him for all time. Its important to remember our heroes! This picture came a ny times article about the heroic incident where Robert gave his life in the line of duty. He is always a hero!!!.

36 years this September. And your still in our memories. Recently the current mayor of NY City has brought up your name. The good thing about that is we all heard your name again being mentioned in the news and that made us all think of you and your sacrifice. RIP .

I remember Off Venable, when he worked at the day care center my cousin attended in the late 70’s. He was always attentive and enjoyable When I heard about his demise , I was shocked and saddened. His kindness to the kids has stayed with me for decades.

I was working anti crime for then LIRR PD now MTAPD in EastNY and responded to the 1013 and was devistated. Years later while working in Applicant Investigations for the MTA I came across a female candidate, same last name, it was his Neice. I immediately committed to assisting her journey forward. She now wears his shield.

I was fortunate enough to have had the honor to meet Robert Venable everyday as a classmate in the NYPD police academy and on most days have lunch with him where we would meet with other officers and study. After Robert it was Kenny Hansen who I also had the privilege and honor of working along side while we were assigned to the NYPD Harbor Unit. This one is no easier to accept. Although I have never met PO Rivera and PO Mora my heart is broken and the pain is same. God bless every NYPD officer who continue to serve.

WE ALL NEED TO REMEMBER THE SACRIFICES THAT HAVE BEEN MADE BY HEROIC POLICE OFFICERS LIKE OFFICER ROBERT VENABLE AND OFFICER SEAN MC DONALD. IT IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT NOW BECAUSE ONE OF OFFICER MC DONALD'S MURDERERS, JAVIER MIRANDA, IS ABOUT TO BE LET OUT OF PRISON. I ONLY HOPE THAT THE MEN WHO ASSASSINATED OFFICER VENABLE WILL STAY IN JAIL FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. I ALSO HOPE THAT SOMEONE WILL NAME A STREET AFTER PO VENABLE, AND ONE FOR PO MC DONALD, TOO.

Hey Bobby, proud to say I met your daughter today. I was qualifying for my HR218 when I met this wonderful young lady. Islip Range for Safety Quest.
The range instructor Joe (failed to get his last name) former Transit officer and I were talking a young lady stated "I'm a police survivor" of Transit Officer Bobby Venable. I was both crushed and moved to hear her say that. She was only 8 When you were viciously taken doing your job.
You left behind a beautiful young lady to keep you alive in our hearts and memories.
Although I didn't know you personally I know your story well.

Bobby funny how small the world is. I responded to your 13 on that night and spent hours at the hospital waiting for word on your condition until the doctors said “ he has gone home”. I remember the sick feeling . We were all part of a family that only a Transit Officer could understand. Many years later while visiting my grandmother, uncle and aunts grave, (which I do often), something make me look to the first grave in the line and their you were.... “ Doing it your way”. I am glad you are on the corner standIng guard over my family, I rest easy knowing they are in good hands. God Bless You. Rest In Peace. I always visit when I am in the neighborhood and leave a calling card or a flower. Always Transit, Da Klammer , NYTPD SOD/HOU. , CO. NYPD SOD/HOU.
